Sony

As is so often the case leading up to major trade shows, we're hearing about potential new Sony devices. This time round it's a new one, though, as an official Sony document makes mention of the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact – say that three times fast – which one would presume to be a smaller tablet than the current Xperia Z2 Tablet.

Sony hasn't made a smaller form factor tablet since the insane folding contraption known as the Tablet P, or if you were considering the Wifi only version of the Z Ultra. We don't actually know anything other than a name, but considering it's there in an official user manual for a Sony product, it's enough to assume a good level of credibility.

It's actually pretty exciting to imagine a smaller tablet from Sony. The Z2 Tablet hardware is really nice but the larger form factor isn't for everyone. And, as Sony also proved with the Xperia Z1 Compact, smaller for them doesn't necessarily mean lesser specs.

With IFA 2014 upon us in just a couple of weeks and a confirmed Sony press conference, we're looking forward to seeing what materializes. Android Central will be live from Berlin throughout to bring you everything you'll need to know.

Sony document suggests smaller Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact inbound

The Z2 tablet is nice but I love the 7 inch form factor of my Nexus 7 LTE. Give me something along those lines with a comparable screen, updated specs, cellular connectivity and I'll be all-in.

While I would definitely consider this, after owning a Windows 8.1 tablet, it's the best OS for me for tablet. But if they was crazy enough to glass back like the Z2 I might buy one on principles to go with my Z2. I'd be more interested to see the successor to the Smartwatch 2 from them. Love Sony products.

Nice. I'm not a BIG fan of tablets and for what I use them - productivity - nothing can replace a tablet with Windows 8.1. And that's why I got myself a Surface Pro 3.
HOWEVER when it comes to Mobile apps and games for entertainment, forget Windows. And that's the only reason If consider getting the Z3 tablet Compact doing the Z3 Compact. For entertainment on the go I don't need a 12" tablet.

I am a Android AND Windows fan and I have to admit that Windows is much better than Android on 10 inch large screens.Android on 10 inch is just looks like a streched out phone version and Windows with its charms and live tiles, swipe from right to open charms actually makes more sense. On the other hand,I admit on 7 inch tablets Windows sucks and Android is king there
