As is so often the case leading up to major trade shows, we're hearing about potential new Sony devices. This time round it's a new one, though, as an official Sony document makes mention of the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact – say that three times fast – which one would presume to be a smaller tablet than the current Xperia Z2 Tablet.
Sony hasn't made a smaller form factor tablet since the insane folding contraption known as the Tablet P, or if you were considering the Wifi only version of the Z Ultra. We don't actually know anything other than a name, but considering it's there in an official user manual for a Sony product, it's enough to assume a good level of credibility.
It's actually pretty exciting to imagine a smaller tablet from Sony. The Z2 Tablet hardware is really nice but the larger form factor isn't for everyone. And, as Sony also proved with the Xperia Z1 Compact, smaller for them doesn't necessarily mean lesser specs.
With IFA 2014 upon us in just a couple of weeks and a confirmed Sony press conference, we're looking forward to seeing what materializes. Android Central will be live from Berlin throughout to bring you everything you'll need to know.
