Nexus 7 (2013) case

A new hard case specifically made for the Nexus 7 and available in four colors

Google's second official case in the Play Store for the Nexus 7 (2013) has just arrived, and it's a hardcover microsuede version that comes in multiple colors. Simply named the "Nexus 7 (2013) Case," it is a molded hard plastic case that wraps around the sides and back of your tablet, with a stitched fabric flap to cover the screen and turn into a stand.

The case comes in four different color combinations as well, to help fit your style — black/black, white/red, gray/blue and gray/red. Unlike the Nexus 7 sleeve this case is specifically made for the latest version of the Nexus 7, as you would expect with a hard plastic frame.

If the Nexus 7 Sleeve was any indication, the Nexus 7 (2013) Case is priced rather highly at $49.99 before shipping. Shipping options look to break down at $3.99 for 5-10 day, $7.99 for 3-5 day and $11.99 for 2 day. Add in any state sales taxes and you're easily going to break $60 on this case. If you do choose to order, the case is expected to ship by October 9th.

These look really nice!

DaEXfactoR says:

magnets??? If not, I wonder if you have an issue with the cover flapping which will wear the case kinda quick

tr-1 says:

If still no magnet, they are Fing morons.... I mean, there's no other way to put it.

Especially after this quote:
"It’s frustrating to get a case that doesn't really work with your device, especially if it's something you use every day. Google-designed cases are made to the exact specifications of your Google-designed technology—with a Google flag as a little salute to perfect fits."

Look nice but no thanks at $60 out the door.

Does this one actually fit the product?

For $60, this may hurt the wallet. I mean why not a 15 dollar case from amazon, that offers more ( slim or thick cases, depending on your preference.)

Although this case does look nice, but I will have to Pass.

NickLippert says:

It looks nice but I'm pretty happy with my $10 poetic case. $50 seems like way too much.

MERCDROID says:

This. I have and love that same case, and it only costs me $6 with free shipping.

Droid Brick says:

Same here. Plus, they sent me the new, revised case. I'm still using the old one (I see nothing wrong with it) until it falls apart. Two awesome cases for $6? Great deal.

Saneless says:

I got 2 poetic cases for $20. I see no issues with it after a month so I'll probably never even need the second one, but at the price I wouldn't be that upset if I did.

For the price I'm not sure where the extra $50 would go but the Poetic case is the right move for this tablet.

kgh00007 says:

I got a poetic slimline case for $10 shipped. It has magnets to keep it closed and to activate the screen and feels and looks great. A $50 case for a really well priced tablet is crazy!

I have the same Poetic case for mine, and I agree 100%. Works well and good quality for such a cheap price. Love it.

Duplicate! :-)

Another official case with no way to keep the flap closed? They can solve this on a $5 generic.

DirkBelig says:

I bought a case for $5 shipped from Amazon that has magnets and stands it up for landscape viewing. Other than being somewhat thicker than cases I've gotten for my OG Nexus 7, OG Kindle Fire and OG iPad the (none of which have I paid more than $12 for), it does the job of protecting the screen. I've paid less for all those tablet cases combined than a single case like this. Cases are such a racket.

$50? Google can bite my shiny metal ass.... And I don't even really have a shiny metal ass.

A cover for a device should not cost 1/5 of the total cost of the device...

kcerica says:

What's so great about it besides it being specifically made for the new nexus & it's fabric (which might not be a good thing.) I am assuming they'd get dirty pretty easily after using it for a few days, I wonder how easy these fabric cases will be to clean? It reminds me of the old nook color cases that were about $30 a few years ago. $60 for any case- even cases that are unbreakable.

Once again a very pricy accessory. I don't get it. Google fairly prices the actual tablets as usual and then completely overcharges for a case. What gives?

Wow, this is just ridiculous. Shameless Google.
I paid for my MoKo case 15$ and it has absolutely everything needed. Slim design, magnets, stand and very durable.

Thanks for the tip on that case. It looks good so I just ordered one.

I had to send my Nexus 7(2013) to Asus for service, because of a screen problem. But this case is way overpriced. I'll stick with my $6 poetic cases

udazavlanje says:

It's been little over a month and I have a patch (1/2 in in diameter) of blue pixels showing up where it should be black.
How long did they tell you to wait for that service ? Idk but seems like they can never do it right from the start. I'm very disappointed.

drokssilva says:

They never gave me an estimate. Weird that its the exact situation. I am also disappointed because this happened on my first gen. nexus 7

Posted via Android Central App

Am I the only one that got the official Asus nexus 7 2013 case that fits perfectly and the case stays closed.? That's crazy..

drokssilva says:

What does this have to do with my problem

A serious ripoff.

TC93 says:

I've seen this same case sold on eBay long before Google started selling it. It's a total ripoff at this price. Apparently google has the same mentality as Apple for selling overpriced accessories.

tqmcguire says:

Already a ripoff at $50, it's even more of a ripoff when the corners break off after 1 week of use. I knew it was overpriced but I loved the look and feel so I bought it.

I have to say I don't leave my devices in their cases 24-7. I use them at work (to prop the tablet up and protect it) and when traveling. When I get home I take them out because I don't want to hold the case.

After 1 week the top left corner cracked and was held on only by some glue and thread so I just took it the rest of the way off. Two days later the bottom left corner cracked. So far it's still on. It's a great case if you're going to put it in and leave it. If you're going to take it off, don't get it. That's more than unreasonable.
