Galaxy Tab 7 Plus

Budget 7-incher gets Android 4.1.2, with users in Austria first to report update

The humble Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus has come a long way since its launch in late 2011 on Android 3.2 Honeycomb. And today it seems the budget tablet is getting its promised Jelly Bean update, as owners in Austria are said to be receiving Android 4.1.2 in an over-the-air update.

According to SamMobile, the new firmware version XXMC3, build on Mar. 25, is currently rolling out to Austrian Wifi-plus-3G Tab 7.0 Plus models (GT-P6200) ahead of a wider launch. So anyone with the Wifi-only GT-P6210 variant may have to wait a little longer. In any case, Jelly Bean should give Tab 7 Plus owners a lot to look forward to -- aside from the obvious performance improvements, there's Google Now, re-vamped notifications and improved text-to-speech capabilities.

Shout out in the comments if you're getting the update on your device this morning.

Jelly Bean starting to hit Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus

Would love to see the Galaxy Tab 7.7 get official Jellybean.. especially if this beast is getting it.

My 7.0 plus is still on 3.2. The ICS update is available, but it's not available OTA. And it will NOT update via Kies. It's been a great tablet though. I'm ready to upgrade to a model with a much better screen now.

Updating OS is done by first charging your Galaxy Tab at over 50% (close to 100% is recommended), wifi connected, and not connected to the charger. Go to the settings and update. That's how I updated to ICS and hopefully will be able to update to JB on my Galaxy Tab 7.0 plus.

Quickly scrolling down the page when I realized - hey! That's my tablet! I thought Samsung gave up on this thing after 4.0.4. Very happy to be wrong. Of course I now use the n4 for almost everything, but this will definitely be a nice update.

All told I've been very happy with this li'l guy.

Thanks for the heads up! We have some of these for testing at work and they're decent little tablets. Somewhat nitpicky, but just fyi these weren't ever really budget devices. You might be thinking of the Tab 2.

I called Samsung today +18889874357 and they assured me that the P6210 7 inch tab Plus WILL NOT GET JELLYBEAN. Call them to register your complaint. There is no reason why this device, with hardware superior to the Tab 2, should not get the upgrade except to force us to buy another device. That is just not prudent marketing practice.
