Latest version of KitKat and HTC Sense 5.5 round out the 312MB OTA package

If you've got a developer edition or unlocked carrier-free model HTC One in your pocket, it's time to whip that puppy out and check for an update.

Users are reporting a 312MB OTA that brings the device to Android 4.4.2 and Sense 5.5, which should also improve system stability and adjust the screen time out when making a phone call.

The Software number for folks in the Americas is 4.19.1540.4, for those who need that information as well.

No word on when to expect updates on other HTC Ones that need them, but we know HTC claims to have done their part and it's now all up to your carrier.

So another 3 months for carriers to add bloatware and run "testing" on devices?

Over the past month you may not have noticed the AC posts and comments.

In the US, all HTC One's have received OTA the latest Android Kitkat 4.4.2 and Sense 5.5 except for the ATT & T-Mobile carrier versions which should also be updated very soon. I believe the rest of the world has also been updated to the current version.

Truth, fucking carriers man

Only that 2 of the US carriers Sprint and Verizon already have the update. Sprint has had it since the end of January and Verizon for about a week. And many international carriers already have it. Besides the Unlocked and Developer editions have had 4.4 since November/December. This was just taking them from 4.4 to 4.4.2.

cordawgfrito says:

Read the article. These phones are being updated from 4.4 to 4.4.2. Also the Sprint HTC One has had the 4.4.2. and Sense 5.5 update since 31 January. And Verizon has had it for a week. The only carriers waiting are AT&T and T-Mobile which should happen sometime soon. So try doing some research.

My brother on Sprint has 4.4.2 already. Am I missing something here?

Kit Kat tastes like Jellybeans. Can't tell them apart...

DroidOn says:

I'm not sure what the difference is with the software version, but my Sprint HTC one already has Android 4.4.2 and Sense 5.5. Does anyone know what this is?

verpeiler089 says:

Oh please, kitkat is such a minor update, you're plain stupid if you don't use it because of that reason.

jimbo says:

Take out of the drawer and update it.

I got on my HTC One, I'm in Multan, though its developer edition.

Troneas says:

Actually Sense is not getting updated. Developer and unlocked are getting 4.4.2 up from 4.4 we've had since November last year. We were already running Sense 5.5. We're basically just getting what the rest of the carriers are getting right now.

How clever you are.

Kind of stupid what they done with the lock screen. Removed lock screen styles. No longer cn have a picture album lock screen....not a fan. You can add widgets, but only from a select few, and then it doesn't add them to your main lock screen, it adds them to a second lock screen to the right. Why would you swipe right to a second lock screen to access widgets when you can just swipe up to get to them on your homescreens

Razieltov says:

Why don't you just get a different lock screen?

cordawgfrito says:

Ask Google. That is how lock screen widgets are done on stock you stupid twat
