Google has just announced the winners of the Android Developer Challenge 2 (or ADC2) that'll surely bring a lot of great applications to the limelight. They've announced three winners in each of the ten categories and three overall winners. Cash prizes were given out to the winners and we're hoping that developer challenges like these will continue to spur Android app development.

The three overall winners were SweetDreams, What the Doodle!?, and WaveSecure. SweetDreams is an app that allows you to change phone settings to avoid late night calls. You can also conserve battery by having SweetDreams automatically shut off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. What the Doodle!? is a real time online multiplayer game where one player draws out a given phrase and others try to guess it. And finally, WaveSecure is a security solution that protects your device, data and privacy.

The full list of winners is available after the break and more information on all the winning applications can be found here.

ADC2 Winners Announced

I'm really, really surprised not to see the Grooveshark android app in the winners list...

something smells bad here...

Any reason why the Tasker icon isn't respecting Apple's copyrights? How soon will they get a letter from Apple's legal folks, I wonder?

@lulz The map will zoom to the appropriate zoom level that will best help you find your car. Plus, the radar view will point in the *direction* of you car. The only reason the map is zoomed out so far is because whoever made that screenshow hasn't saved the car's location.

I'm the creator of car locator and that is *not* the screenshot that is on the android market.

I too am looking for Tasker. The competition should have a link to the app so you can get it if you want it. Don't have time to keep looking. Google needs to provide this information.

I was keeping high hopes for the games but they are totally disappointing, the cheapest iphone games out there are a lot better than these.
And the apps, nothing revolutionizing, some of them are not bad but not great to win such an award.
