What you need to know
- OPPO is bringing its smartwatch to global markets on July 31.
- The smartwatch will be powered by Wear OS, unlike the ColorOS-powered Chinese variant.
- The design itself is nearly identical to the Apple Watch.
OPPO unveiled its first smartwatch earlier this year in China, with the brand signaling its intent to launch the product globally. We now have more details on the same — the OPPO Watch will debut in global markets on July 31.
Unlike the Chinese model of the smartwatch — which is powered by OPPO's own ColorOS — the global version features Wear OS. That should be welcome news to potential customers in Western markets. As for the design itself, the OPPO Watch is near-identical to the Apple Watch:
On the hardware side of things, a visit to the FCC confirms the smartwatch is powered by the Snapdragon Wear 2500 chipset and has 1GB of RAM and a 430mAh battery. That means the internal hardware itself is unchanged from the Chinese version, and if that's the case we will see a 1.9-inch AMOLED panel with a 402 x 476 resolution with thin bezels.
With the launch just over a week away, we don't have to wait long to know more about the OPPO Watch's availability in global markets.
