Nexus 7 Sleeve hits Google Play in US and Canada for $29

Along with the announcement that the Nexus 7 is now available in Canada, Google has also put up the first official accessory for the device in the Play Store. The simply-named "Nexus 7 Sleeve" is a neoprene and microfiber zip-up case designed to protect your tablet. The styling seems to be pretty basic and is black on the outside with grey cloth on the inside, and has a second pouch on the outside for other cables and accessories.

The Play Store listing indicates that the Nexus 7 sleeve will work with both 2012 and 2013 editions of the tablet, which is nice. The sleeve is now on sale in the U.S. and Canada for $29.99 and indicates that it will ship in 1-2 business days, with some pretty expensive shipping options starting at $17.98. If this design isn't your thing, Google also sells a generic 7-inch tablet sleeve from its own store for less.

Let's hope this is just the beginning of official Nexus 7 accessories from Google this time around.

  • Glad I caught the shipping price..... Over half the price of the sleeve itself?
  • Printers are to ink,
Shaving tools are to razor blades,
    Pens are to refills,
Cheap tablets are to "Official" cases. I want super cheap stuff.
    These cases are a ripoff!
    Go buy an iPad...
  • Shipping is $17.98? Do they actually want anyone to buy these? The shipping for the Google branded 7" tablet is only $6.50.
  • I have one from Amazon that I paid $5 with prime shipping. Google clearly out of their damn minds. Posted via Android Central App
  • Not hard-core enough. Where is the Otterbox Defender/Armor equivalent for the 2013 Nexus 7?
  • It is currently unavailable, but I got this one for one dollar prime. And it has a zipper pocket for a charger. Still waiting for the premium case though. Posted via Android Central App
  • Didn't I see this sleeve on the Google Play Store at the time the Nexus 7 appeared?
  • I'm sure you did. I think I saw it not too long ago when I was looking at the site. Posted via Android Central App
  • Almost $50 by the time it ships for a neoprene case?!?! GFY Google.
  • "$29" becomes $50.01 in three clicks. This is the biggest rip off I think I've ever seen in my life.
  • Geez $30.00 for a case that should cost $5.00-$10.00 at the most plus $17.98 for shipping?! Are Larry and Sergey knitting these by hand and running these out on the Google private jet?
  • I see what you did there :)
  • Google is out of touch with this! Posted via Android Central App
  • Grab a $9 Case Logic from Walmart and save yourself $40 bucks! Posted via Android Central App
  • You can buy 2 dollar carrying cases on Amazon, avoid this.
  • Why can't Google make an effort to have accessories that are of decent quality come out on day one of a tablet release? Who wouldn't buy a case the day they buy the tablet? I love android but I'm tired of Google's slapdash approach to retail. I've got a tablet that doesn't leave the house because I don't yet have a decent case. Posted via Android Central App
  • They did release this on day one. Posted from my pure Google Nexus 4 using the Android Central app.
  • It looks.. god damn crap. Why would anyone wanna hide the beautiful new Nexus 7 in something that looks like a CD carry case from the 90s. They should have designed something that compliments the device like Apple have done with the colorful magnetic iPad covers. Very disappointed Posted via Android Central App
  • 15 at Walmart
  • Who do they think they are, Apple? Love the $6 per ounce shipping rate they have going on. The Nexus 7 must cost $130 to ship.
  • Clearly they're trying to recoup the free shipping offered on the N7. Good luck with that. Posted from my Nexus 7 via Android Central App
  • All cases and folios etc are violently over priced. Posted via Android Central App
  • That's crazy expensive ‎Google 新聞
