Moto 360 confirmed to work with Android 4.3 and above

Will work with any device with a compatible version of Android

Motorola just got done with its Meet Moto 360 hangout and we learned a little more about what makes it tick. In particular, Motorola's Jim Wicks, confirmed that the Moto 360 will work alongside any Android device that runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and above.

That's great to hear, especially given the interest Moto's new Android Wear powered smartwatch has generated in just its first 24 hours alone. We've still got nothing better than Summer to go on for launch, so we're going to have to try and be patient and wait it out to get one.

  • Why no love for donut? This is the first watch that I am even slightly excited about. I missed the hangout earlier today so I am playing catch up. -------------------------------------------
You really should see the crap I don't post. Sorry if honesty offends you
  • Yeah definitely the first one I'm interested in too.
  • Whats crazy is, this is the first watch i am interested in as well, but really, we dont even know ANYTHING about it. Just a pic and what the google api's will allow (not necessarily what the watch will do).
  • Didn't really miss much. They spoke largely about their vision and the concept behind the design. The Hangout didn't really reveal much. Water resistant, no camera and a focus on battery, but not how it's charged or size. A lot of "stay tuned for further details" type stuff. Not surprising though.
  • I'm praying for a June 21 launch. If not, then it better be June 22. ;)
  • Or, you know, along side the new moto x in July/Aug via moto x.

  • my AT&T G2 just updated to 4.4.2 last week so you can't be far behind, were usually the slowest at updates
  • T-Mobile updated the G2 as well, should be soon for Verizon and Sprint Posted via G2 + Nova
  • Verizon has long held that crown.

  • Cool, it sounds like this is actually using the native Notification Listener support added in 4.3. That should make notification support fairly seamless compared to the way something like Pebble does things with accessibility services.

  • No they are not -------------------------------------------

  • Depends on the level of the update. A dot dot update that changes nothing would fall under the bragging rights group. But, a dot update usually includes a good amount of visible changes.
  • @NoNexus about a month ago the "LG is taking over android club" stated that LG G Pro and the rest of LG devices don't need an software updates and that people only want the latest updates for bragging rights.
They also stated who needs Android 4.3 or 4.4 since it is not an improvement over 4.1.
  • This is awesome! I'm up to get a new phone! My contract ended yesterday and my phone battery is leaking acid but it still works so now I can get both a new phone and new watch. Perfect timing.

  • I don't see that happening. Two totally different technologies, with Glass still being in its infancy.
