Hulu to add Showtime subscription option so you can watch Ray Donovan for less

Hulu is adding a nice subscription option for the users of its streaming TV show and movie service. The company will add a premium tier that will include access to all current and past shows and films on the Showtime paid cable network. The new option will go live in early July, in time for the season premieres of two of Showtime's major TV shows, Ray Donovan and Masters of Sex. Hulu says:

Hulu subscribers will have unlimited on demand access to every season of award-winning SHOWTIME original series, as well as access to new episodes as they premiere, along with documentary and sports programming, and hundreds of hours of movies, all commercial-free, anywhere in the U.S. At launch, Hulu will offer SHOWTIME across more devices than any other SHOWTIME distributor over the internet. Subscribers will also be able to watch the east and west coast feeds of SHOWTIME live on Hulu.com. SHOWTIME is the only premium streaming service to offer live East and West Coast feeds through all of its internet distributors.

Hulu subscribers can bundle their current service with the Showtime option for $17 a month. Showtime also has plans to launch its own streaming service for $11, which means Hulu subscribers, who are already paying $8 a month for the standard service, will be able to save $2 a month with the Showtime bundle compared to purchasing each service separately

  • I assume you mean "Ray Donovan." LOVE IT!
  • Yeah I can't wait for Ray Donovan season 3.
  • ...and as a special gift, Hulu will inject ads into Showtime. As a side note, cable companies know what is coming as my local cable provider gave me Showtime for $3/mo for a year.
  • Nope, Hulu is not adding ads.
  • Will it still have advertisements ?.. I guess soo...

  • i hate Hulu, a paid service with ads.
  • Well the truth is a majority of the shows on there can be streamed from the channels website directly so you can view them for free with ads. The pain with that is that you have to go out and look for the shows. It's a convenience thing. There's a post on reddit that details a good way to find the shows available on each channels website. • you can say the same about cable and the paid packages on satellite TV.

  • Penny Dreadful is good and airing right now on Showtime. It was just renewed for a 3rd season.
  • +1 Penny Deadfull has been the only show that has kept us (my girl and I) watching Showtime since Dexter concluded (albeit that final season was atrocious!).
  • House of Lies is a good show as well

  • How about the price for AT&T users who will be getting Hulu for free? Posted via Android Central App
  • I think that deal with AT&T is a special Hulu service through an AT&T conduit of some kind. It won't be a regular Hulu+ subscription, just a little extra programming than the free service. Nothing in the original press release said free Hulu+ subscription. It's a bummer, but should be expected.
  • And I will definitely do this when Homeland returns. Posted via Android Central App
  • Good move Hulu, I watch most of my TV through Hulu and this will be a nice option to have. Sony Z3 via the Android Central App
