Have you had any issues with your Galaxy S20 FE's touchscreen?

The Galaxy S20 FE is one of the best smartphone values on the market right now, offering features like a 120Hz AMOLED display, Snapdragon 865, and great cameras for just $700. Compared to the other $1000+ flagships out there, it's quite the value proposition.

As exciting as all of that is, the FE's launch wasn't perfect. Some users started complaining about touchscreen issues on the phone, with it not properly registering touches as it should. Samsung quickly issued a software update to address the bug, but that hasn't reassured all potential customers quite yet.

A few of our AC forum members recently shared their experience with the Galaxy S20 FE's touchscreen performance, saying:

I haven't experienced anything like that since I've had it since launch. Not saying there can't be an issue with some of the devices though.

No issue with mine

No issues with mine 2 weeks in, really like it came from S9. Really glad they went back to flat screen never liked the curved nonsense

When I first got mine I was aware of some touchy touchscreen issues. Primarily with trying to drag and drop icons or other long press actions. It seems to have gotten better since. I didn't do anything to fix it, though, so I'm figuring it might be an intermittent thing. Well, I did change my touch sensitivity for the setting supposedly used with a screen protector (which I don't use)....

What about you? Have you had any issues with your Galaxy S20 FE's touchscreen?

  • Sent mine back. The display was poor, perhaps defective, it didn't do white (even after fiddling with all of the settings). Just gray and lacked the brightness and pop of my Pixel 3A XL. The AOD is not actually always on and you can't see time or notifications from the first "black" lock screen. Sammy level 2 tech support confirmed this. FPS under the screen frankly sucks - immediately did not recognize 2 out of the 3 fingerprints just stored. And tapping sensitivity was a problem, having to tap multiple times to get it to register. Didn't bother replacing it. Another QC fail from Samsung.
  • Sound like you got a lemon
  • I notice mine has been freezing up quite a bit when using Chrome or Youtube. I frequently have to exit out and restart. I never had this problem with my S10+.
  • Most of us in Europe have bad touch screens. Just sent mine back. It's not that it's unusable it's that it can become unusable. If a Samsung A01 Core for $100 doesn't have any issues why would a $700 phone have? It's not related to the 120Hz also.
Tested on 5 different devices old and new. Some got 1/20 bad touches, most got 0/20. The S20 FE (with the latest ATJ5 FW) gets 18-20/20 bad touches. It's simply unaccetable of any modern smartphone to behave so bad.
  • Sent mine back because the proximity sensor simply did not work! No matter what I tried, while insisting on using double tap to wake, the phone ALWAYS came out of my pocket with the screen on and multiple random taps causing all sorts of potential problems. Replaced it with the OnePlus 8T and everything works properly! Sorry, but the 8T is hands down the better of the two!
  • Typical Samsung - releasing a phone that is just not ready for prime time. I won't be experimenting with Samsung ever again.
