First OnePlus 8 render shows off hole punch display, hints at wireless charging

What you need to know
- First leaked renders of the OnePlus 8 reveal a hole punch display and dual curved screen.
- The camera housing at the back seems unchanged from the OnePlus 7 Pro.
- The leak suggests the OnePlus 8 will offer wireless charging.
The OnePlus 7T debuted just one week ago, but we're already seeing the first details regarding the manufacturer's 2019 devices. The first OnePlus 8 leak is here by way of OnLeaks and CashKaro, and it shows off a few interesting changes.
First up is the display: according to the leak, the OnePlus 8 will feature a hole punch display with the front camera module embedded underneath the top left corner of the screen. The publication notes that the OnePlus 8 will feature wireless charging, which will be a first for the brand.
The device also has a dual curved panel — similar to the OnePlus 7 Pro — and at the back the camera housing seems unchanged from what we've seen this year. There's little in the way of specs so far, but seeing as how the leak is based off of factory CAD renders, we know the dimensions: 160.2 x 72.9 x 8.1mm. For context, the OnePlus 7 Pro comes in at 162.6 x 75.9 x 8.8 mm.
That's all we have for now, but it will be interesting to see if OnePlus follows through with the hole punch design. We'll undoubtedly know more in the coming months, but in the meantime, what's your take on the design?

I can't understand why oneplus would start going backwards. After the beautiful full 7T pro display, now they're going to a hole? Makes no sense.
-
This is for the 8 not 8pro. If they keep the pro model going that is.
-
I've been saying it for months: the hole punch is moving forward. Before you can hide the camera behind the screen, you have to isolate it into the screen. Be patient and have faith.
-
The 7 Pro already hid the camera behind the screen. Nothing wrong with having it pop up.

OnePlus 7pro is awesome! Pop up camera works great ! I'm just pissed about the failure to get the Oxygen 10 update in the USA via TMobile....may have to go back to Apple next year, as they are brilliant at getting updates to the user quickly. OnePlus means well...has good devices...but sucks when rolling out updates.

Not sure about holepunch, prefer the teardrop - wireless charging would be amazing though, that's the key thing I'm missing feature-wise. Would love to have that so I could do a wee top up in my car.

You can buy Car chargers that plug into your cigarette lighter then into your phone with a cable. You don't need wireless to charge your phone in a car. I use a magnetic phone holder and just plug it in my phone and pop it on the magnet when I jump in the car and it charges continuously while I'm driving
