A brief look at the Playstation app [video]

After we got a nice, clear video of the not-yet-announced Sony Playstation Phone, another video pops up, briefly showing the Playstation app.

By brief, we mean it; the clip is just 15 seconds long. It shows what appears to be the dedicated Playstation app from Sony. In the Library section of the app, it looks to have three tabs: All, Recently used and Recently Added as well as a search option.

What we're all waiting for is to see some content in the app to see how the gameplay is, but until then this will have to suffice. Enjoy the video after the break. [YouTube]

  • Wow, you weren't kidding about the "brief look" part.
  • Curious how games will look on that thing... looks kinda cool.
  • So which Playstation software will this device run? PSP? Is it an emulator or dedicated PSP hardware? If it's not dedicated hardware, why is it so damn fat? --Qfg
  • It will be only be compatible with PSP Minis. :P I'm kidding, but I'm still not sure I'm sold on this thing. Sony doesn't have the best track record when it comes to updating Android on their devices. Hopefully that extra thickness is for containing a standard "extended battery." Smartphones by themselves have dreadful battery lives as they are and PSPs by themselves are even worse. If they throw in just a ~1500mAh battery in this thing, it's going to be a joke.
  • I'm still wondering if this thing will only have a D-pad. Are those circles on the bottom some kind of capacitative analog sticks? Did I miss that spec somewhere?
  • That's what I'm wondering about the analog sticks ! I wished that the psp would of had 2 of them.
  • What I've heard is that they are optical joysticks. Similar to the trackball on the incredible I guess
  • wwwery.com/10334-sony-playstation-app-for-android.html Well, according to this article, it's a PSPGo, and it's just an app with no special hardware. That means: wait for the hack for my Epic!!!! Or buy it legit if they offer it in the market, of course. That also means all that heft is a battery. --Qfg
