The Android P Beta includes phones from 7 manufacturers in addition to Pixels

A lot of Pixel owners got excited when we noticed the Android beta page was back for Android P, but things just got better. A lot better.

At Google I/O it was announced that seven other manufacturers were participating in the Android Beta program for Android P and it will be available for everyone today. The list of eligible phones, since that's why you're reading this in the first place:

  • Sony Xperia XZ2
  • Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S
  • Nokia 7 Plus
  • Oppo R15 Pro
  • Vivo X21
  • OnePlus 6
  • Essential PH‑1

You'll enroll your devices the same way Pixel users do, by visiting the Android beta website and signing up. Have fun!

  • Of course Samsung wouldn't dare join this group...
  • I'm okay with not having a beta half baked OS on my $900 phone.
  • That you nonexus? But seriously I agree.
  • No. I can't stand that dude.
  • Agreed
  • What are you doing using samsung then?
  • Nice failed attempt of sounding ignorant.
  • Yes because it would ruin the UI like Android O did..
  • How would Samsung run the P Beta when their version of Android is heavily modified from what Google pushes out?
  • Project Treble. OS is now in separate partition. Samsung would only need to focus on their bloat in the other partition.
  • Strange HTC isn't on the list.
  • I'll wait for the stable OTA to hit both my Essential and Nokia 6.1.
  • Ugh.. Why couldn't the Nokia 6.1 be on the list..
  • thinking the same, they need a real mid in this beta
  • The OTA beta is available for my Pixel XL on the Google Beta Program page. Will the other participating manufacturers have their own beta programs sites? Trying to decide if I want to install the Android P beta OTA on my Pixel or Essential.
  • Might not be in the beta but it is definitely getting P under the Android One program and more than likely getting Quesadilla.
  • Not particularly impressed with AndroidOne based on my MotoX4. That thing hasn't even seen 8.1 yet, almost a half year after release.
  • Could be Moto. The Nokia 6.1 I just got updated out of the box to 8.1 and got the April security patch.
  • Strange that the Nokia 8 and 8 Sirocco are not on the list.
  • Great news coming to both the Android phones I own currently XZ2 and Pixel 2 XL 😁 And already Installing on Pixel 2 XL. Sony site looks not up-to-date but will install on XZ2 as well once they have the install ready.
  • This is exciting. Glad I have the essential, as soon as I hear word that the beta is more or less stable and doesn't break anything major I am in!
  • HELL YES! I didn't sell my Essential! Woohoo!
  • Good deal, time to jump in on my non primary phone.
  • But of course not a single Motorola phone I'm not surprised
  • It looks like the phones other than the Pixels just have the option to flash the developer preview vs install the actual beta. Is anyone seeing anything differently?
  • No thanks, I'll continue to beta test Android N 7.0 on my Galaxy S8 plus...
  • Lol, the 7.0 firm on the S8 isn't even a beta state...
  • Sweet! Go essential phone 😊
  • K
  • Hmm, not seeing anything on the beta site other than pixel and pixel 2.
  • Nevermind, it's under the project treble page. Still, pretty exciting that this is available.
  • Damn I wish I had a Pixel 2 XL already. Oh well at least I can brag about getting Android Q next year at least lol.
  • Sad Moto isn't here.
  • It is.
  • You would think they'd include Android One devices in this. 🤷‍♂️ 8.1 has been a great update on my Moto X4. Lag is gone.
  • So when does a device such as my LGV30+ (Sprint) get the update? I do not recall the terminology, but isn't LGV30 part of a new business classification or something whereas it's "guaranteed" to have certain updates in a very timely manner? I believe that was part of the agreement? Anyone know what I'm referring to?
  • Yeah its some kind of Enterprise initiative where LG devices, G6 and V30 were supposed to get 8.0 early this year to kick off the program. Here we are... May.
  • Very happy Nokia is a part of this . Now they need to release a true flagship in the States on Verizon and I'm all over it
  • Well I wasn't bothered about P until I read the changes to the notifications.
  • I'm glad Nokia is part of this list as I definitely will have a Nokia phone to go along with my Pixel 2 XL. Tobe honest Nokia has pretty much nailed the midrange market now and we're smart to join the Android One program.
