The update will initially be available to IDOL 3 customers in the U.S. and will include a Google security patch for the Stagefright vulnerability.

Alcatel OneTouch will begin pushing a security update to patch the Stagefright exploit on August 10 for its Idol 3. The software update, which will initially be available to customers in the US, includes the Google security patch that will prevent the device from being able to be attacked. We have already seen Sprint and AT&T begin pushing updates for select Samsung phones, so it is great to see Alcatel OneTouch quick to react.

The Idol 3 is one of our favorite unlocked Android phones. It's great to see the company be able to support the phone, and push out prompt updates to keep its users safe and secure. Be on the look out for the update to begin pushing out on August 10 in the US.
