Xperia Tablet S

Android 4.1.1 OTA update starts April 18th 9-10am PST

Sony has just announced through their community forums that Jelly Bean is coming soon to the Xperia Tablet S. Starting tomorrow morning pacific standard time, users will start seeing a System Update notification appear in their Tablet S toolbars. The change log will not be posted until tomorrow, but seeing how this is an upgrade from Ice Cream Sandwich to Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean, users can expect the usual goodies: Google Now, Project Butter, expandable notifications, and more.

Sony is reminding users to make sure they are plugged in to AC power and have a good WiFi connection before starting this update. Check the links below for the official announcement and Sony's update instructions.

If your device is among the first to get this update, or if you have any tips on forcing the System Update notification to show, hit the comments.

Sony Xperia Tablet S Jelly Bean update going live tomorrow

Don't suppose there's any news on the original Tablet S at all or has it been officially dumped? Really wish they'd do something to speed up this lovely but horrendously laggy tablet :-( grats to the Xperia tablet S users though

Agreed, no one made them promise to release jb for the original tablet s by Feb 2013 but they did. It's April and they have not even addressed it again.
I give them credit for being one of the first tablets to update to ICS but I don't appreciate being lied to, and for no reason at that.

I had the Tablet S and sold it to purchase the Xperia. Tablet S should get the upgrade to JB but I think it will fade away as will the Xperia S. I would imagine this will be the last update from Sony for the Xperia.

I upgraded to JB on the Xperia a couple of days ago and these are my observations. I never really had many wifi issues with ICS, only an occasional weak signal. Now it appears as though the signal is much stronger and I haven't had a drop yet. Also I have read about restart issues with the Xperia, however again I never had any issues with that either. The battery life seems improved and wifi immediately comes back when waking up from standby.

The tablet seems more responsive to the touch, no lag as of yet. I have only used the tablet for about 4-5 hours over the past few days. It still may be early in the game, but I like what I see so far.
