Vibrant froyo source

Samsng is in a giving mood today -- not only have they provided the source code for the impending Epic 4G Froyo update, they have placed the code for the Vibrant's Froyo update online as well.  Once again, this isn't something for the average user to download and flash, it's for developers to use and enhance the existing Vibrant software, or to use in their own flavor of Android for the Samsung Vibrant -- like stock Android flavors.

Even if you don't have a clue what to do with these files, it's nice to see Samsung affirming their commitment to Android and the open source community.  To get the goods, head to the source link and search for SGH-T959 in the search bar.  Now get ready for the custom ROMs!  [Samsung's Open Source Release CenterThanks everyone who sent this in!

Hoping the source code for the Captivate is released today too. Maybe wishful thinking, but fingers crossed.

I wouldn't be surprised if AT&T did hold us back. When I had the Blackberry Bold 9000 it took a year for me to get the next official update that by then was already obsolete with a newer os version on newer phones. With my Captivate I feel like I'm having deja-vu.

OH god dont remind me. 1 year for a OS 4.6 update and 2 year for a 5.0 update. This is one of the main reason why i dont like how samsung is blamed for everything, the carriers are half of the problem as well

AT&T wouldnt have anything to do with the source code being released. They deal with official updates that come out for the phone but the source code is released directly from Samsung.

I didn't know Feb was the end of the year, thought Dec was. Isn't that what Samsung said, Froyo to be released by end of the year

they run on the korean calander. maybe its different. :)

WOO HOO! :) XDA has been waiting for this code forever. Now for some vibrant based kernels instead of i9000 based kernels!!

cant wait to see what team wiskey and the others do with this.
