Spyder 2

Just when you finally think you may have decided which device is right for you, we throw another one into the mix. The guys over at This is my Next have been sent some images of an unannounced Motorola device that is apparently named the Motorola Spyder. What makes this device any different than any of the others you are probably wondering, so let's take a look at the specs.

The Motorola Spyder is said to have a 4.3-inch qHD Super AMOLED display, this would be the first time we have ever seen this, and will be powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor. In addition it will rock an 8MP camera on the back, a "HD" front facing camera, and 1GB of RAM. Which carrier this device is destined to launch for is still unknown, could this be the first big AT&T 4G LTE device, or yet another in the Verizon selection?

Update - They have received another tip from a trusted source who has had hands-on time with the device and the About screen of the device reveals it to be the Droid RAZR. With the "Droid" branding that pretty much leaves us knowing that it will be heading Verizon's way, but the question now is when?

This was leaked a while back as the "DROID HD" when it was spotted in the wild beside a Bionic

Best idea I've heard in a while. Verizon could make a killing turning around phones. Obviously manufacturers would hate it, but maybe there's a way to make it work.

This is the best looking Motorola phone I've seen thus far!(IMO). Its got good specs if its true and I bet this one will go to Verizon.

They made this device pretty neat. They did not put the hd display to conserve battery. I love the HD front facing camara in it :)

The specs also indicate w metal chassis with kevlar casing - it looks to be very durable like a Motorola phone should be. I found the Bionic to be very light and made of cheap plastic. The X, X2 and D3 however (IMO) were the last of the great build quality phones

Totally I just hope it does not have that horrid Skin that moto puts on their devices. So tired of that. Let it run stock. That G2X isss so fast. Faster than my sensation. If this phone was that fast or faster I would be a happy man. I really want to know what a QHD Super AMOLED screen looks like. Close to iPhoes display or better? I guess we will see.

Then again why not hold off till ICS. Pointless to buy a new phone right now.

Thisismynext reported that in the About section it was listed as "Droid RAZR" - perhaps that's VZW's version.

The nexus will launch first this most likely wont launch until dec at the earliest I would think and most likely not until early next year.

Is Samsung now lending out it's super amoled screens? Because I didn't think anyone else had that screen technology.

I wouldn't be surprised if they are selling their first gen Super Amoled but maintaining exclusivity on Super Amoled Plus and the newer higher res screens on their own phones. Samsung has been a parts supplier for several others including Apple for certain things.

But it says qhd super amoled which would not be the first gen super amoled screens since they do not have that resolution.

True. Good point. Not first gen but since they have 720p and 1280x800 on some upcoming devices, qHD would not be their most advanced and newest tech.

This better hit about the same time as the Vigor and the Droid Nexus Prime Samsung Phone Thingie With ICS and A Super Long Name By Verizon (in an attempt to compete with the Samsung Galaxy SII Epic 4G Touch by Sprint).

All three of these devices make the Bionic look like last year's news. Not sure which would be the device of choice now...

Moto build quality is amazing (most droids, anyway).
HTC is easy to hack to pieces.
Samsung has great screens and may get ICS first. They are cheap and plasticy feeling though.

Just my two cents. Isn't a Super AMOLED screen, show in pictures or in person when the phone is off, black? Look at your Samsung device that's Super AMOLED when it's off. The screen is black on almost every single angle.

that's just a render of the device, check the actual device pics out here. . .Engadget

looks pretty black to me. . .not trying to start an argument, just wanted to clarify. Cheers!

I will not be happy until there is a phone with a qHD Gorilla Super Amoled Plus 3D HD Retina Virtual Reality display. Or QHDGSAP3DHDRVR display for short.

The name alone will cause this thing to dominate everything on Verizon. The RAZR name is universally known

Waiting, lol. The end of waiting has arrived early for me, ha! There is nothing about this device that makes me think I made a mistake with the bionic. Love those Samsung menu buttons in the picture roflmao! Motorola Dominion in this house.

could this be the first big AT&T 4G LTE device,

Does AT&T have ANY phones with a front facing camera other than an iPhone? Last time I looked they didn't.

My guess is that this won't hit until late Q4 or early Q1 2012. It seems Verizon launches its flagship Droid once a quarter and the Bionic is it for late Q3/early Q4. However with the rumored prime and ICS rumors, who knows where this will land in the lineup. The rumored Razr name would indicate flagship to me.. but who knows.

why not they have proven they are the best. Droid best selling droid, razor best selling flip phone in the world :) it told 130 millions copies. Droid x destroyed everybody 2010 and 2011 bionic will be the king. The track record speaks by itself

Oh look, it's the GSII from 6 months ago with different, uglier hardware. UGH. I'm really getting a low opinion of Motorola nowadays.
My Xoom is slow (can't really use live wallpaper, start up takes forever and a day, etc.) and returned the Bionic due to too many glitches. Get your stuff together Moto. Samsung is the King of the hill nowadays.
