Along with HTC's announcement of their One series devices, one thing that may have been overlooked while mulling the specs over was their new agreement with Dropbox. Previously, HTC was working with Dropbox to offer folks a free 5GB when using HTC devices but they've now bumped that up to 25GB free for 2-years:

Dropbox integrated with HTC Sense - HTC One gives you an easy way to save and share your photos and videos. HTC has integrated Dropbox into HTC Sense 4 enabling HTC One customers to get 25 gigabytes of free Dropbox space for two years. That’s enough to keep more than 10,000 high-quality photos. Dropbox is also integrated throughout HTC Sense 4, so it’s easy to edit, save and share your documents and other kinds of files.

We've gone through the process of explaining cloud storage services like Dropbox can be used for storing files, and now with it built-into Sense 4.0, it'll make things easier then ever.

What happens after 2 years? Will you have the option to get all of your uploaded stuff back? How much will it cost? Do you get to keep the 25 if you switch to a non HTC device prior to the 2 years? If my Evo 3D gets updated to Sense 4.0 will I get the additional storage, or is this only for phones that ship with 4.0?

I would love to have 25GB at my disposal, but I am curious about the fine print.

I had a paid subscription that expired. Basically, my available storage space dropped back down to my previous free space amount and I couldn't add any new files. However, updates to existing files still sync and, of course, I can't keep any space if I delete a file and I'm still over my storage limit.

I agree. 25 gb is awesome, but what happens after the 2 years?

In dropbox, everything autosyncs with your desktop(s) if you installed the client. Turn it off and you would still have all your stuff on your PC.

Not what he's asking. What he's basically asking is "after 2 years (standard contract length), will my Dropbox storage be reduced 25 GB back to the way it was before I got the phone?" I'm left wondering the same thing...

More than likely only for new phones shipping with Sense 4.0. Id be highly surprised if they did it for existing phones.

I'll stick with box and 50Gb for life. Sure there is no real desktop interface but it it's better than 25Gb for 2 years with no certainty of what happens next.

fyrfyter says:

Yeah, Box is still definitely the winner here. If Dropbox were really serious it would at least be 25GB for everyone for life. That would at least keep them in 2nd place!

E_man says:

Yep, I love my 50gb that I can hardly use because getting to it is a pain in the butt...

Time to go to AT&T store when this phone ships and log on and upload something and go home. Instant 25GB! I had actually done this with the Rezound, i got the Rezound a couple of days later though.

I was jealous then I saw "2 years" and got relieved.
