seems like all these companies are not doing much design changes but writers only slam samsung how S4 was minor design change and just slight spec upgrade.

felyke says:

Exactly, and even then the design was actually better with significantly smaller bezels. Not to mention a noticeably better specs sheet and improvements.

wow, that looks HORRIBLE. I'm glad they ditched the glossy plastic, but they chose THAT? woof.

few thoughts on this though. its running KK, so thats good, they finally ditched the Green in the status bar (still assuming the toggles and everything else is the same though)
the charge port cover, assuming its just for the waterproof thing, would be annoying...hoping to see wireless charging on it.
removeable back...and still waterproof? hmmmm....oooookkkkk
whats with the bezels? they look wider than the S4.
not only that, but the overall size grew by quite a bit.
and I agree....looks much worse than the S4.

Looked at my GS3 then looked at the GS5, then asked my wife which phone was newer. My GS3 was her answer. Same thing happens on the street. People don't ask if it's a Galaxy, they just ask is it a S3 or S4.

Bigger battery in a similar footprint. This seems nice!

Similar footprint? This thing is noticeably larger than the S4

Incremental upgrades but that right now is all that sony needs. Would of been good to see a design change with the Z2 but it works and is obviously working for them.

Since the camera is the same and we don't have forward facing speakers, I wonder if the 4k recording is going to come to the Z1?

I'm on the fence here.
I moved to Android from WP8 with the Z1, and all I've gotten is disappointment from Sony.
Bootloader and camera issues still remain, and my headphones don't work in it.
I chose Sony because the shape of their phones is almost identical to my past phone, the Lumia 920, and I love how that phone feels and looks.
It's a pity that there aren't any other Android phones rectangle-shaped.

yankeesusa says:

What camera issues are you talking about? How does your headphones not work? Seems like issues that aren't too bad or one's that can be resolved.
As far as camera, if it's certain things that it doesn't do well, most beta l camera phones weren't meant to do everything. As for headphones, is it an issue with a defective phone or bad headphones? If that's all it is then your doing good in my book.

My headphones work in every PC and phone I've plugged it in, except my Z1.
And each time I start deleting bloatware with Titanium Backup, the camera fails.
I check if my bootloader is unlocked? Camera stop working.
I have to flash again a firmware to restore it.
The LG G2 Mini would be attractive, if it didn't have that low resolution.

I guess it's because Sony uses a custom connector, for their remote. Which means some brands doesn't work with their phones. I think it's always been like this with Sony. My Klipsch headphones didn't work with my old Xperia X10.

It might not look completely different but Sony's phones have been right on the money when it comes to important things that must users want. First of all battery is great on all their phones from the Xperia z line. My wife's Xperia z with stamina mode lasts just as long as my note 2 sometimes. The speed of their phones is also good. And even with bad viewing angles like people complain about has never been an issue for me, not to mention their ui is a lot like vanilla android. Overall their great phones and on top of it all their even better at being waterproof. I just wish they came with unlocked boatloader in the states.

I read on other sites that the camera, although still at 20.7MP, utilizes a larger sensor. Is this true?

Does it come with InfraRed blaster by any chance?

Sony xperia z2 is the smartphone that gives healthy competition to iPhone 5s and galaxy s5 and some other smartphones and now rumors comes in the market that Sony might launch xperia z3 in the second half of 2014 and it would be quite interesting to see competition between iPhone 6,Note 4 and z3 as seen on http://appinessh.com/sony-xperia-z3/
