Today in New York, Motorola and Verizon jointly announced the RAZR M. It's shipping next week, with preorders starting today at $99 on contract. This little number has 1 GB of RAM, a 2,000 mAh battery, LTE connectivity, 8 megapixel camera, an edge-to-edge 4.3-inch 960 x 540 display, and a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor backed up with 1 GB of RAM. Jelly Bean is apparently coming by the end of the year.

Check out Verizon's product page here for a closer look.

Three are a few video demos after the jump. Doesn't look too shabby, does it?

same screen as the predecessor? Because that would suck

IceDree says:

No that's the small one.
Motorola just announced 3 phones : RAZR HD, RAZR MAXX HD & RAZR M

The successor (RAZR HD) have a 4.7" HD screen

I agree. That's the one thing I am not liking about the phone. Other than that it is very sweet. But I think it will be the HD.

that phone is ugly cmon now motorola...

No bezel? Ah maaan! BTW, did I hear dual core? COMMON!

Nice phone, glad to see manufacturers not abandoning those who'd prefer a reasonable sized phone. Too bad its exclusive to Verizon, since I refuse to continue paying their exorbitant prices once my contract is up.

Its a mid level phone, no one who comes to this site is it's target demo. It will prob do well.

I come to this site all the time and I find this form factor very appealing. The processor is the same as used RAZR HD devices (probably the same as One X & SGS3). The only possible negative could be the quality of the screen, the resolution will probably 960x540 but if it is good quality that should not be problem at this screen size.

If an iPhone user looks at high end android device they may will be put off by the large size (its too big a jump for them). This device will be about the same size as the new iPhone, be cheaper, more durable, better battery life and yet still very powerful.

I hope this starts a trend for high end phone of a smaller size (choice is good).

I have to disagree. When I see this phone I think whoever buys the iphone 4s will buy this phone. Heck whoever buys the iPhone 5 may even buy this phone. Our competition does not push hardware specs like we do at Android and so to me this phone looks good and will do everything I want it to at only $99. And I am a hardware spec whore. I own a Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 7. From the slight review made on the Razr M the screen appears to look gorgeous even though it is not HD and remeber the iPhone 4s (and leaks show the iPhone 5) are not HD either. THey just look really good. So I think this phone is designed for everyone because if you even look at what they plan to push later this fall, they do not have any huge technological feats over this besides HD and more battery. Just my two cents though

Absolutely zero excuse this phone isn't launching with Jellybean, especially when the company is OWNED by Google. Crap like this makes me want to jump ship.

Agreed. It's not like the jump from ICS to JB is that big...

Incubus123 says:

I dont think motorola gets the whole "edge-to-edge" screen thing.. this is not what people think about when you say those words... but i guess this is the closest thing at the moment.

npco543 says:

I'm pretty sure they fully "get" the "whole edge-to-edge screen thing". There's manufacturing reality and then there's the sci-fi fantasy world people think is real.

There has to be SOME bezel to actually hold the screen and provide protection from impacts, considering said screen is composed of a thin piece of glass. Or perhaps you could share some of your apparent advanced manufacturing and materials expertise on how to provide both a truly edge-to-edge screen AND one strong enough to withstand normal daily use.

ArgonNJ#CB says:

How come Verizon gets the 2000mah batter while the ATT one gets only a 1750 one?

Mobius360 says:

Looks like a nice 100 phone to me.

mnguyea says:

God that was painful to watch in the beginning with the band trying to get the press to sing along. That was hilarious. The phones are oh hum boring on the same old Verizon. They might have more if they would release it to other carriers also.

Cheetah23 says:

Off-contract pricing?

xaml says:

That's more specs than the Atrix for significantly less money, dear spoiled whiners.

Pronixx says:

My parents are looking to get smartphones. This may be the phones worth getting. They dont care about the latest and greatest stuff.

dynomike1 says:

If this is a "budget" phone, that's got some amazing specs!
