Wileyfox Spark, Spark X, Spark+ specs

British startup Wileyfox has taken the wraps off its latest handsets at an event in London this morning — the Wileyfox Spark series, which consists of three different variants.

The base model, selling for £89.99, features a 5-inch 720p screen, a quad-core MediaTek processor, an 8-megapixel camera, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage. The Spark+ ups the storage to 16GB, RAM to 2GB and the camera to a 13-megapixel sensor, for £114.99. And at the upper end, the Spark X takes the internals of the Spark+ and adds a 5.5-inch 720p display, for £129.99.

  • Is it just the high taxes in the UK / EU that results in abnormally high prices in the region? Most phones seem to cost significantly higher in the UK and indeed in the EU than they do here in India. Not talking about these ones per se, as they're not sold here, but most unlocked devices from Huawei, Asus, Lenovo and everybody else for that matter. Seen that with automobiles as well, the UK pricing is simply atrocious! How do you Brits put up with it? Our pricing is also on the higher side when compared to that of the US, but thankfully, not as bad as in the UK. (Hopefully not famous last words, LOL!)
  • The EU sucks ......and the UK just proved it Posted via the Android Central App
  • What is you're hourly salary? Compare that to what they earn in uk or Europe. Posted via the Android Central App
  • VAT of 20% is included in the UK prices. Legally our retail prices must show the fully inclusive amount. Certainly in the USA, state and other taxes are always added at point of sale. Don't know about India.
  • With cyanogen OS? No thanks
  • Affordable or not, 8gb storage is just too small
Oops wasn't trying to reply to you but I'll leave it
  • What's wrong with it?
  • Exactly. Seems like you might be more likely to get updates with CyanogenOS than anything other than a Nexus or flagship device.
  • True. Posted via the Android Central App
  • Looks like Spark+ is an interesting choice! Looking forward to check how it compares to my Swift. PS: Am I the only one excited about official replacement batteries?
  • No, you're not ;-)
  • I'll wait for the Wiley E. Coyote.

  • Yep. Seems like a downgrade to Swift. vzw Moto XPE/N7

  • It's disappointing that Wileyfox made the move from Qualcomm to Mediatek but to then choose such a low end chip in the 6735 is just ludicrous.
  • Yeah, that 6735 is not that great. But for these prices, that is probably their only option from Mediatek.
  • What GSM Bands, can these be used in the US w/ LTE? Can these be rooted and flashed stock Android?
  • Yeah I wonder if these can work in the US.
  • They lost me when I reached 2200mAh battery.
