Samsung teases Galaxy Note 4 announcement in new video trailer

Samsung has just published a video teaser of its forthcoming and highly anticipated Galaxy Note announcement early next month at the IFA show in Berlin. The event, which is expected to see the debut of the highly rumored Galaxy Note 4, will see a strong focus on the Note's most defining feature: the S Pen.

The video teaser, which is well over a minute long, shows how humans have crafted things to meet their needs and wants, perhaps paying homage to the S Pen as "a truly notable invention" since "the pen." Samsung calls its Wacom-powered S Pen "a tool for the way we live today" in the video.

As Samsung asks in its video, are you "ready to note?" The next Note is debuting in a few weeks and we'll be sure to bring the latest news out of IFA and Samsung.

Let us know what you think of the Note video and what features you're anticipating or hoping will come on the Galaxy Note 4.

  • S-Pen with Bluetooth and speaker for use as a smaller handset when on a call...
  • Holy cow that would rock. I'm trying hard to stick with my note 3, but I'm so excited! Posted via the Android Central App
  • I am sticking to my NOTE 3.
  • Note 2, Note 3 now for the Note 4. I HAVE to update. It's like crack.
  • Didn't the Padphone do this?
  • Sensible Samsung owners with the Note 3 will find little value. Posted via Android Central Beta Tablet App!

  • yep. hopefully more people will join the Note legion this year though.
  • How do you know that? Are you a wizard? Are you from the future? Is that how you know if there are no new spen features? Posted via Android Central App
  • Sensible? I heard the same thing when I had the Note 2 and the 3 came out. I'll be going from a 3 to a 4 the day the thing is released. Gadgets are the one thing I spend money on and I await these updates like I use to await Christmas. Just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
  • This is a easy choice to buy nothing on the market today matches or compares to the Galaxy Note products period. Note launches are a great show yearly it gets better and better. From my Galaxy Note 3 on T-Mobile via Android Central App
  • Are you going to buy the new Note 4 or stay with your 3?
  • I will keep my Galaxy Note 3 that's not going anywhere and will buy the Galaxy Note 4 as usual at launch. That will mean I will have in my rotation the Galaxy S3,Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy Note 3, and the Galaxy Note 4. I will be purchasing the Galaxy Gear 3 Solo Wrist Watch Communicator, and the upcoming Galaxy Tab S 8.4 LTE version.
It's pretty much always been plain and simple for me nothing beats Samsung or the Galaxy Note products period they are Android nothing else matters. From my Galaxy Note 3 on T-Mobile via Android Central App

  • Richard, you're a douchebag !
  • my note 2 is holding steady. none of my previous 'smartphones' stayed useful or relevant for this long.
  • I agree
  • +1, my release day Note 2 still holds up to the riggers of heavy daily use. And that's coming from a tech junky.

  • LOL--beers cold I will throw a burger
  • Is it waterproof too? Posted via Android Central App
  • It had better be. This is the deciding factor for me - all the other rumored specs are fine, but it needs to be waterproof. Please Sammy! Please!
  • Same, I have cash waiting for this, if it's waterproof, I'll buy, otherwise... My Note 3 will be rocked till Note 5
  • I'm replacing my Note 2, so the cash is also ready to be spent... your move Sammy :)
  • If it has the flap that's on the Galaxy S5, I hope they add wireless charging to it. From what I read, removing the flap all the time to charge is a pain.
  • When you get yours, just drop it in a bucket of water and let it sit there for about 25 minutes. Then tell us if it is waterproof.
  • I sure hope so. It's a great feature. Posted via Android Central App
  • Can't wait to get my hands on the Note 4. I am upgrading from a GS3!
  • That is an upgrade that actually makes sense. Good on you for using that GS3 for a while. Posted via Android Central App
  • Same here. My GS3 is waiting to retire.
  • My GS3 will turn into a premium MP3 player.
  • +1 that is what mine turned into not sure where the Note 3 will end up...I would have said the wife but she went S5...
  • S3 has been wonky for about a month and it's time to upgrade. Just waiting to see if the Note is worth it or if I should go with the S5. I can't wait for the S6...the phone won't make it.
  • Samesies.
  • I would love wireless charging Posted via Android Central App
  • The Note 3 has an official wireless charging cover, so the 4 surely will have that option as well. I don't find it very useful. Takes twice as long to charge. Would be nice in a car mount though.
  • I had the Note 2 and now the Note 3. I've never had the need to use the S Pen. I haven't known anyone owning any of both to actually use it in a daily basis
  • I can count on one hand the number of times I've needed it on my note 2. But the battery life and screen are fantastic. Posted via Android Central App
  • I use my spen many times a day, every day. marking up pdf's and taking quick notes. tap-tap write.
  • It might be more useful to people who write notes and such. I'd love to have something like the s pen with my Nexus 5.
  • I use mine at least 10 times a day. I have to constantly photograph and Note images for review to contractors and engineers... Not to mention autocad drawings are so much easier to manipulate with the pen vs finger, square credit card reader for signatures... I can go on. I've always wished we had a dead accurate stylus and the note line, especially the 3, gave that. I'll always be a note user.
  • I owned the original Galaxy Note for a few months back in the day. I used to use the S-Pen almost every day. I think it just depends on the person. Posted via Android Central App
  • I use my S pen every time, I don't even see any need for this phone without the S Pen. Those who are S pen illiterate and so don't use it are missing out big time.
  • IMO if you don't want the S-pen, then there are better options for less money. The pen is fantastic and highly functional, as is the text recognition. I can barely read my own chicken scratch cursive right now as I (hand) write this comment, but I correct fewer mistakes than using swype and swiftkey. I use it all day long for notes and editing photos. The incredible functionary it offers is the only reason I went with the Note. Otherwise I certainly would not tolerate Touchwiz.
  • I'm waiting for the cause the screen is just out right beautiful. Posted via Android Central App
  • I keep saying I don't want another Samsung phone. I keep saying I don't want all the features, because I have had a note 2 for almost 20 months now, and can count on one hand the amount of times I've needed the pen. I don't do silly cropped pictures, I tried taking notes with it when I first got it, it didn't really work for me, but I'm not a writer either. And I've had hardware issues with my note 2, had it replaced a couple times. I swore I was done with Samsung phones and yet I keep getting pulled back in. I like the screen size, I like the physical buttons, I'm on the fence with TouchWiz, but I make it work because there are a few things I do like. If this thing gets at least 32 gb internal storage, is water and dust resistant I have to give it a real hard look right? Posted via Android Central App
  • If the Moto S actually happens it may be something to consider. It almost certainly won't have capacitive buttons, but with a 5.9" display when the buttons are showing it would still have a display about equal to the Note, but a larger display when in immersion mode, and probably a similar form factor to the Note Posted via Android Central App
  • Let's hope the camera is decent this time. Posted via Android Central App
  • Well I can relate to you. Tried leaving the S series but vanilla android and other UIs aren't for me. You should definitely give it a look. Samsung gets a lot of flack, and some of it is justified, but a good phone is a good phone, n since the note line has seemingly satisfied with every iteration (for the most part) then why not. Posted from my caseless GS5, because I believe in myself
  • Touchwiz was an abomination all the way up to and including the note 3 still sucks now with the latest version, but it's still a whoooole lot better looking, and even less bloated than ever before Posted via Android Central App
  • I hate the oem launchers I have a Note 3 and an HTC m7, both have Nova launcher, both have the exact same layout. I really love the sense ui menus and features, hate blinkfeed. I love the note 3s SPen suite and features from touchwiz, installing vanilla android like cm11 losses a lot of those features. I know I'm not alone, I freaking hate vanilla android... I had converted my m7 to a gpe and hated it. Left it on my dresser for months. Just recently I decided to take it back to stock and I'm damned happy I did. Sense 6 is really nice. For Samsung, I jumped off the Apple wagon after the 4s to the gs3.. Was happy then it failed on me and warranty was a piss off. Swore off Sammy. Got the HTC and holy crap, piss poor service.. So I reviewed and decided the best for me at the time was the note 3. Back to Sammy again... Lg looks to be bringing a note 4 contender, let's hope their stylus is as good as samsung. Anyone know is Sammy has exclusive rights to Waco tech?
  • I don't think they have exclusive rights...they own a smaller % of the company as far as I know. I've never really used the stock launcher on any device... they're far too limited. For me, the things Ive despised above all with touchwiz (other than the lag) was the launcher, settings, and notifications panel (also alot to the native apps)....ugly, and complete lack of aesthetics.....they finally refined the UI. Notif panel, settings (list view) basically everything but the launcher has been tweeked, and now looks much better....which is actually part of why I want the note 4. As for the lag....not much of a problem anymore either. from the note 3 on anyway Posted via Android Central App
  • You are so right about Samsung Piss poor service. My Note 3 broke and i took me 1.5 months to get a phone back. So i had to buy another(iPhone 5s). When i got my note 3 back i sold it and now I'm trying to decide Note 4 or iPhone 6
  • replaced an android device with an iphone ????? Bit of a downgrade, don't you think? Posted via Android Central App
  • I use custom ROMS and, right now, I am using Eclipse ROM, which makes you forget you're using a phone that came out with TW. all the features of the Note are there, but repackaged in AOSP (or vanilla Android) interface. Not just like using a different launcher... Makes me Love my phone more. Posted via Android Central App
  • I can't decide if I'm "ready to Note" or not. I've always been more of a stock Android guy, so the rumors of a Moto phablet are enticing. However, if nothing comes of those, the Note 4 may be my only option. My fiance just got a S5 and I don't mind Touchwiz as much as I used to, but I don't know how I'd enjoy it for constant use. Posted via Android Central App
  • Nexus 6 is coming, but Notes have good screens and cameras, probable QHD and Note 3 already has UHD recording. If Nexus 6 isn't 64 bit, I might wait for the Nexus 8, frankly I want 64 GB of flash and at least 3 GB of RAM, hope I get good resale on my Nexus 5, or 10.
  • I am just not sure how to break all this to you. There is no need at all for 64 bit right now, unless you want to be a total spec whore. None.
3GB RAM is going to be a bit far fetched for a Nexus, same with 64GB
You are not getting crap for the Nexus 5, and even less for the Nexus 10. If you get 200$ for either (or both at the same time) you should jump at it.
  • Wrote you a long reply, not sure why it's not there, well things to do.
  • I used to use Nexus 5 and went to GS5 and it has been my best decision yet. Nexus 5 had a few problems that i couldn't live with. So i can assure you that it would be a wise decision to go with GN4 Posted via Android Central App
  • Cool video. I really wished more ppl used their s-pen. I haven't found ONE note owner that uses it to the extent that's shown in the ads...if at all. Posted from my caseless GS5, because I believe in myself
  • Agree haven't seen people using the s-pen that much. Was the note series successful because it was huge when it was released our because it has the s pen? I think it's the former. Posted via the Android Central App
  • The size initially caught the average consumers eye. N then everyone started loving the display, cam, and battery life. And the android community respects it because its usually a spec beast and shows the best of Samsung.
If anything...many ppl see the s-pen as another gimmick that they'll have no use for. "Yeah my phone can do this n that n it's got a stylus n everything.." - every note owner I've run into. Posted from my caseless GS5, because I believe in myself
  • I don't use it thatch but it comes in handy when I do. It's one of the few if any that keeps me on the note series. I like a big screen and wouldn't mind bigger but only if it was a bigger note. Posted via Android Central App
  • I use it every day.. Just yesterday I had to replace my 2nd tip. A note for the heavy SPen users, get a tempered glass screen protector.. It adds a little extra drag ( closer to pen on paper) and it keeps from damaging the screen when you wear the tip out... Plus it saves the phone from welding spatter... But I guess I'm a rare case for that :)
  • God they even advertise that irritating touch sound? (Heard when the guy does the Google search and clicks on the link) Most people who buy galaxy phones are clueless and they don't even know how to turn off the touch sounds. Posted via the Android Central App
  • Lol I hate the LG G3 touch sounds as well , that was the first thing I turned off when I got it Posted via the Android Central App
  • Lol really.. Or maybe it's just marketing... I actually know a few that prefer the touch sounds.. Not sure why but they do.
  • I know that's how I am. Lol You just get used to it! Posted via Samsung Note 3
  • I am not seeing anything worth upgrading over my Note 3 so far in all these trailers. Just recently got a One Plus One and happy with nothing. Just wondering what the three side display is all about but most likely will pass on this version. Ian. B
  • Not my friend. The resolution, camera at 16th, 4k recording, 805 snapdragon and advancements on the s pen? I may sound like you after I get the note 4 but as soon as it hits the states I'll be watching android central following podcast on it. Posted via Android Central App
  • If they add dust and water proof I'm in.. I work in a heavy ferrite dust environment, had to switch out my m7 to the Note (big speakers + ferrite dust = destroyed speakers).. Plus being able to take the phone onto the lake with the kids would be fun.. I
  • If you still have the m7 try brushing the speakers with a toothbrush. n5
  • The s5 was the first time I actually considered buying a samsung device (without rooting and CM)....the disgusting touchwiz abomination that once was has finally somewhat gotten it's act together.....between that, the monster specs, freakin quad hd!!!! and the wacom tech, the note 4 is gonna be a straight up beast like nothing before it !! Posted via Android Central App
  • Damn! You ended that comment richardly like. Posted via the Android Central App
  • Ouch!!!! Naaa...Richard probably actually uses things like S-voice, smart scroll, and probably doesn't even know that things like Google Now exist. because he's just that much of a douche ! Posted via Android Central App
  • Lol, that guy is such a joke....reading his comments make my eyes hurt Posted via Android Central App
  • THIS ^
  • Smart troll? Lol
  • LOL...You owe me a new keyboard....I didnt see that coming
  • Hardly ever use the S Pen on my Note 3. Mainly bought it for the speedy processor, screen size, and good camera. I always root so I can debloat and always use Nova launcher. Only downside to Samsung IMO is lousy connectivity as in bad antennas. Been that way since the Note 2 Posted via Android Central App
  • Soon as I get this phone I'm round housing my GS3 into the nearest garbage can. I can't wait!
  • I hope the s pen is a little easier to hold this time. For me the note 2 pen was the right girth, just a tad short. The note 3 pen was better, but I find the button placement awkward. Maybe this time the a pen will be perfect.
  • Want a updated note tablet again this year! Posted via Android Central App
  • I have the Note 3 can't wait to See What to Note 4 has in store for me! I feel like a little kid at a candy store ! Posted via Samsung Note 3
  • Many times a day, on my Note 3, I use the s pen. Not only is it great for notes, it's great for editing photos, scrap booking, and navigation. I'm glad they are focusing on the s pen. Hopefully, they will add more software.
  • I really want to avoid getting another Samsung again after their KNOX / Android 4.3 fiasco but I'm going to miss the S Pen on my Note 2 which I actually use on a weekly basis....
  • I am new to the Note 3 after many many years of iPhone ownership. It's only been 5 weeks and I'm perfectly happy with my note 3. I always buy off CL so if I decide to upgrade I'll do so in 6 months. I'll sell my note 3 on CL and buy sometimes note 4 for 150 more than what I sell my note 3 for. That's how I stay current and off contact via ATT. Did it with my iPhones since day 1. Posted via Android Central App from Samsung Note 3 or Surface Pro 3
  • The S Pen is the killer app die for me but I would love if it were water and dust resistant as well. The fingerprint scanner may be useful if it doesn't suck. I really hope it's 32GB default. It's so sad that HTC didn't make the rest of the market switch to that as the default last year.
  • I use the s'pen quite regularly, it's extremely handy for cleaning my ears (little bit of tissue wrapped around the end) :-)) Posted via Android Central App
  • Nothing interesthing me in this Note 4 and i see note 4 their excuse for bad innovative year HTC Desire S»HTC Desire HD»HTC One S»HTC M8 (Naked)
  • This teases both the Note 4 and the Note 8.4 tablet
  • Yes, the S-pen is great. I love my Note 8.0 LTE phablet. Too bad rumors have it there won't be a replacement for it. It's one of the best tech buys I have ever made, and I've made a few. BTW, I'm glad I didn't upgrade to the next version of Android. Still on 4.1.2, no Knox, still able to play FLAC files etc. Upgrades are downgrades it seems. Not only with Samsung but also with Sony, where my wife's Z got appalling battery life with 4.4.
  • Underwhelmed Posted via Android Central App
  • How is that possible since we have no idea of the final specs? It is going to be at least as good as the G3 if not better.
  • Note to the editor: This is the year that the Note series is no longer separated from the "normal" phones. With the G3 screen size, you cannot have one without the other.
  • Seems going to be awesome!
I'm an iPhone since forever and considering to shift. To what I'm hearing so far this phone it's a winner over iPhone 6 for my next purchase. Of course that is unless Apple surprises us all by a mind blowing iOS 8, which I don't expect.
  • I could use one but no cash...
  • Same here.
  • Looking at my Note 3 and loving it so much I wouldn't trade it in for any of the phones currently out there (especially with Nitro's Eclipse ROM on it). It's so darn good and looks so new I am wondering why I would need to get a new phone. Yet, I know I won't be able to resist getting the Note 4, specially since I have an upgrade available. Posted via Android Central App
  • After finally seeing the LG-G3 in person.. I was SHOCKED at how dim the screen was.
The Galaxy S5's Screen looked Absolutely Stunning next to the G3.. (Nothing Like SuperAmoled)
I almost did an Impulse Buy of the S5.. And then I thought.. Wait! The Note 4 will be on the shelves in about 30 days..
I can only imagine how nice Flagship 1440P in SuperAmoled will look compared to the older displays that are only 1080P. I just hope there are some design updates for the 2014 Note 4.
  • Believe or not. I'm sure we all can talk about how Samsung phones are bloated and too cheap. But the overall outcome is that Samsung has come along way Posted via the Android Central App
  • I just bought a note pro 12.2 because I couldn't hold out any longer. The ipad mini was killing me Posted via Android Central App
  • I love the note series of phones. I just wish more apps in play store had use for the s pen. I do admit I love that thing but it was so limited. The seriously need to consider building a platform for it where I get more use out of the pen.
  • Very nice, I like this one.. For more details pls visit
