Nokia 7.1, 6.1, and 6.1 Plus will receive stable Android 9.0 Pie update this month

HMD Global delivered the stable Android 9.0 Pie update to the Nokia 7 Plus at the end of last month, and the company has detailed the update schedule for other devices in its portfolio.

The Nokia 7.1, Nokia 6.1 Plus, and Nokia 6.1 are now in the beta labs program, and HMD says it will deliver the stable Pie build to all three devices before the end of October.

The Nokia 8 and Nokia 8 Sirocco will be picking up the stable Pie update in November. Committing to Android One for all of its devices gives HMD a leg up when it comes to updates, and that's exactly what we're seeing here.

By the end of November, the company will have six devices running the stable version of Android 9.0 Pie. There's no mention as to when the other devices in the HMD portfolio will get the update, but it shouldn't be too long after the current set of devices are updated.

  • I'm still waiting on my 7 Plus to get the Pie update, fingers crossed its soon because it's something that i'm really looking forward to!
  • It looks like it rolled out to a lot more 7 plus phones yesterday. I got it on a TA-1062 in Australia. So far so good. Battery and performance good. I prefer the old task switcher.
  • Same here, I have the international version, still waiting
  • Still wondering though if that means the 7.1 will only get the Q update after that, or updates all the way to R in 2020...
  • More likely only to Q
  • Doesn't matter, really. You won't want this phone in two or more years from now. I'll be lucky to get a year out of this battery.
  • Really hoping any 6.1 update fixes the camera app.
  • This
  • SO much this...
  • I am already selling this mistake. I am just tired of freezing Instagram and other apps. There is a lot of alternatives in this price range
  • Try a factory reset, and start with a clean slate. Redownload all of your apps. Skip the convenient moving feature that android phones have been offering during set up.
  • "The Nokia 8 and Nokia 8 Sirocco will be picking up the stable Pie update in November." I doubt that as they haven't even started rolling out a beta version for either of those two yet, more likely to be a beta in November with a stable build in December.
  • What about the regular Nokia 6?
  • Realease date for stable android pie ubdate for Nokia 6.1 plus
  • Interesting. My 7.1 is showing as "not available for this phone"
  • Really hope they hurry the heck up with this Pie update on the Nokia 7.1 because I'd like to see it's performance after the update, before my return window through Amazon closes.
  • Well, we are halfway through November and the 7.1 in my hand still sits on Oreo.
  • November 26th same here
  • Almost December and still Oreo and sitting on the October security patch. Maybe I should have gotten a refurb pixel 2
