Nexus 10 gets ripped open and it's full of Samsung

The Nexus 10 says Samsung on the back, and after a detailed teardown we find that most of the innards say the same thing. The folks at Powerbook Medic have yanked that gorgeous screen off and had a peek at what's inside, and they found that the battery, processor and flash storage are all genuine Samsung parts.

Not surprising, considering that we've seen those same components be made by Samsung in plenty of other popular mobile devices.

More good news is that it looks like there is very little glue used, and most of the unit can be disassembled with just a few tools -- making the DIY'er in me get a little itchy when I look at our review unit. Meh, I still think it looks better on the outside than the inside, so I'll just watch another 1080p movie instead. Check the source for all the gory details.

  • tablet parts found inside?!
  • I'm so glad they've stopped using this headline.
  • Come on Jerry you know this is interesting to some of us. We are not the typical readers.
  • Again, what is it with these statement of the obvious stories and headlines? What did you expect to find inside a device made by Samsung and bearing a Samsung label? Perhaps you thought it might be filled leftover Motorola Xoom or Asus Transformer bits, or maybe all sorts of stuff with little apples stamped on them. I am waiting for a lead story here that someone visited the ocean and found there was water or they touched a burner on a stove and got burned.
  • I ripped open an iPad bearing an Apple label and found out... most of it had Samsung on it. SURPRISE!
  • This. Watch apple sue because someone used Samsung Parts in a tablet! They probably patented that.
  • It's how we do, yo.
  • I do it solely to piss you off.
  • *like*
  • +1
  • LOL
  • Dude, it's called, "tongue in cheek". You know, kinda like a joke or something. Find something better to complain about.
  • humor is lost on him...
  • Looks like in 5 easy steps you could swap out the battery...
  • Exactly what I was thinking- "Wow, replacing the battery doesn't look like it will be all that difficult" or at least not as difficult as I was expecting.
  • nice photos... but where is the MicroSD card slot?
  • I c wat u did there...
  • i like iFixit tear downs more, they more descriptive and review fixibility :p
  • "Its full of stars"...
  • I just wish they had released, or at least announced accessories that work with the contacts on the bottom. I'd love to see some kind of a keyboard dock like the Transformers have. I really want something like the transformer, but I'd like to get a newer device with at least 2gb of RAM. Since phones and tablets coming out now are including 2gb of RAM, apps are going to start utilizing that RAM and I'd like to get a couple of years at least out of a tablet.
  • One does not simply rip open a Nexus 10.
