Xiaomi India head Manu Jain announced on Twitter that the Redmi Note 3 will be available on open sale starting June 1. The handset will also be making its way to Flipkart and Snapdeal, in addition to Amazon India. Meanwhile, the Mi 5 flagship will also be up on open sale on the Mi.com portal.
Xiaomi announced earlier this month that it sold over 600,000 units of the Redmi Note 3, making it one of the best-selling phones from the Chinese manufacturer in the country. The phone is offered in two variants: a model with 3GB of RAM and 32GB internal memory for ₹11,999 ($176), and a base variant with 2GB of RAM and 16GB internal memory for ₹9,999 ($146). Overwhelming demand for the phone has seen it being sold out in under ten seconds during most of the flash sales conducted thus far, and the open sale should make it easier for prospective buyers to get their hands on the Redmi Note 3.
General availability of the Mi 5 will also make it a much more enticing option for consumers in the country, and rectifies one of the major issues we've had with the handset in our review.
