Virgin Mobile Venture

The Virgin Mobile Venture is now official, a day after it went up for preorder. The phone is manufactured by Alcatel and is going for $99. It's got a 2.7-inch touchscreen and full QWERTY keyboard, a 2MP camera and runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread. It's got the Virgin Mobile version of the Sprint ID pack, so you can theme it out in a number of ways.

Virgin Mobile officially announces the Venture

I have my son on Virgin didnt pay the bill last month low on cash but Virgin paid the bill i was shocked sure its only 25 a month but never herd of such a thing just for being a loyal customer very cool if they ever get any duel core phones i might switch.

you can get HTC Rezound for less than that and Galaxy Nexus for $99 why would someone buy this low-entry device for that amount.

Uh, because its prepaid!!!!! There is no way to get a Rezound or a Galaxy Nexus for $100 OFF contract!!!! Plus Verizon costs way more than service on Virgin.

Is this basically the CDMA version of the Alacatel One Touch 909s that Cincinnati Bell has? I know it's a cheap low spec'd phone, but I've considered getting one and trying to unlock it to run in on my T-Mobile SIM since I really would like a candy bar QWERTY form factor Android, but T-Mo doesn't carry any.

I'm not sure if it is the same as the Alacatel, but as another note, CDMA does not use SIM cards or even have the ability to put one in anywhere. The is no way to make this work on T-Mobile or AT&T.

Uh, yeah that's pretty obvious. There's an Alcatel One Touch 909s GSM phone on Cincinnati Bell(same HSPA+ bands as T-Mobile) that looks strikingly similar to this one with basically the same specs(expect for the CDMA vs GSM radio). I'm assuming this is pretty much the same as that. I'm planning to get the CBW version to unlock.
