SwiftKey 4.3

A quick heads-up for anyone using the beta version of SwiftKey 4.3 — an updated version is now available from beta.swiftkey.net. The new SwiftKey beta 4.3.0.149 adds fixes various bugs — including issues when moving between layouts and problems causing the keyboard to jump around the screen — while adding some new localization features. This latest version ensures the currency key matches your phone's locale, and implements Punjabi, Icelandic, Bulgarian, Azerbaijani, Russian Windows and Turkish keyboard layouts.

Grab the new version from the source link, or click below to check out our recent hands-on preview of SwiftKey 4.3.

What I want is for them to add at least some kind of Chinese language support, it's almost two years since I bought it, and I'm still waiting for it.....

I was going to type this.
I can't use it as my daily driver until this comes out...

They are currently working on multiple variations of Chinese. Take a look at their support page(I tried to link but it did not work)

These Asian languages are not the easiest to work with. I'd assume they want to release a nice solid product that you will be happy with. I would also suggest poking around their VIP community and see if you can't get any further insights on the release of this.

They are doing a killer job!

Top Number Row :'( (Cries like a weetle baby)

Hilarious! I feel your pain though.

Cubfan says:

Try Kii Keyboard for that. Top number row and far better than Swiftkey with features that work well for me.

Deadly want to see the top number row pop too
:-(

Paul Warner says:

Yes a number row for tablet use..

Having used both keyboards - I don't understand the advantage some see over the stock Android 4.x+ keyboard...

Next word prediction. Minimized / floating keyboards. Themed keyboards.

Just a few differences.

Next word prediction. It's pretty scary how it can guess my next word.

I typically swap between stock 4.2 and SwiftKey. Predominantly because I speak with people in English, French, and Spanish and SwiftKey has better simultaneous multi-language correction and predictive capabilities.

mathiasjk says:

Does anyone know why the numbers have moved to the right side, instead of the old left side.

DWR_31 says:

Good question.

How about their banishment of the percent sign from a long-press on the numbers screen to the 3rd odds and ends emoticon page?

Posted via sheer force of will

IAMZWANEE says:

They should add the percentage symbol above the comma button. There is no long press for that one.

To aggravate me. There is a poll on their forums about which side is better.

^^ You hit the nail on the head. I believe they did some research on what people thought was better and this won out. I'm also sure they did some research on usability and design and all that jazz.

It may be annoying now, but we can adapt just like we do with everything else. =]

calbrs04 says:

I actually like the numbers on the right side. I always end up hitting the numbers with my right hand anyways. It would be nice if you could switch between sides and top row in the settings though.

LrdHarris says:

I think its for two reasons. 1. The Number pad is on the right side of a regular keyboard. 2. Most people, when using one had, type with their right hand, and its easier to reach the number pad if its on the right. Well...thats what I think anyway. I like it on the right, though out of habit i tend to go to the left sometimes haha :)

Have they fixed the problem with it reverting back to the stock keyboard after re-boot? This has been a problem for over a year. It is a good keyboard but why would anyone buy this if it is not fixed?

demontooth says:

I haven't had that problem.

This is a Samsung issue. Their boot process loads the keyboard before the user storage is initialized. SwiftKey doesn't get detected because it's in user storage to it loads the original default keyboard instead.

IAMZWANEE says:

Never had that issue. Which model is it happening to?

I have this problem, though strangely not with swype or other keyboards. This is supposed to be fixed when we finally get the 4.3 update.

Installing now...

BB_Bmore says:

This keyboard when set up correctly can guess your next word and learn from you to the point where it's scary. Love this keyboard.

I describe it as "nearly psychic" but the sad truth is that people have patterns of speech which repeat. A lot. This is why if you write a lot and let it scan your accounts, it echoes you pretty quickly.

The new thing where trending words get added is wild. On "Talk Like a Pirate Day" I was posting something about it and when I got to the L of the 2nd word, I was able to complete the phrase with 4 space bar presses.

Edit: never mind, forgot I had to launch it from ES File Explorer

anubis2kx says:

This keyboard just seems much slower than the stock jellybean keyboard for me, in both responsiveness and quickness in opening. Sometimes I'll click the navbar in chrome and it will take longer than it should for the keyboard to appear. If they can fix that, I will revert back to Swiftkey.

This beta is a step backward for my Galaxy S4. When I start a new message the SwiftKey beta does not display properly. The space keys at the bottom are cut off. When replying to an existing email the keyboard displays properly. All rows are visible.

I tried using Swiftkey beta and the full version for a while but I rather prefer Google keyboard. I think Google keyboard is more well spaced reduces my typing error. Layouts feature did not help me in anyway although I think it would more useful on large screen devices. Swiftkey should include more themes especially a theme where all letters are always displayed on caps with a bigger font. Helps a lot with smaller devices.
