Sprint Motorola Photon 4G

If you're still rocking a Sprint Motorola Photon 4G (all of, what, a year old now?), be on the lookout for a software update that's going to squash some bugs for ya. Here's the full list of what's ahead:

  • More easily import contacts from SD card.
  • Improved music playback, both streaming from Amazon Cloud or Internet Radio services and music saved to the phone - minimizes occasional skips or repeats
  • Enhancements for WiFi hotspot in GSM/UMTS mode and adding new WiFi connections.
  • Now supports 1080p HD video capture, and enhanced video settings for more responsive playback.
  • Easier creating and accepting calendar meeting notices on the phone.

The Photon hasn't seen an update since October, so it's good Sprint hasn't forgotten about it just yet.

Nah, they were too busy forgetting about the Evo3D.

Just want to point out that this is probably the update from the soak tests they have been performing in the past few months. This, in all likelihood, will prevent you from unlocking your bootloader if you update. Keep this in mind if it matters to you.

Best Phone I have ever owned. ICS would be nice, but the phone works and worked great out of the box, unlike my Epic which got worse with each patch.

1080p very nice!update works fine on my end. thanks for not forgetting about photon peeps, I love this phone, why atrix Q3 and photon Q4 for ICS? photon is a much better phone. Please ICS quick then put the photon back in sprint stores with ICS pre installed and boom! it will outsale most phones there. I also like the new music player, still am not sure about the video finder thingy seems unecessary? now we just need ICS dont forget about photon awesomness moto!

I'm glad to have heard the Photon 4G has not been forgotten. This is truly a great and wonderful phone. However, after doing the update last night, I noticed, more bloatware added: Google Plus, Google Plus Messenger, Google Music, and a new Video player. Neither can be "deleted" - unless rooted. What bothers me is, these are options which if the user of the phone wants to add he/she can download from the play store, rather than Google shoving it down our throats.

Battery life has gone to hell since the update, not to mention since the update, the phone gets incredibly hot during moderate to heavy use.
