Motorola XT626 on SouthernLINC

For you folks down here in my neck of the woods on SouthernLINC (represent!), you've got a new Android smartphone coming your way in November. According to this screen shot, you'll have the Motorola XT626 to look forward to in a couple months. It looks like SouthernLINC will be positioning it as a cousin to the Titanium, though it'll obviously be missing the QWERTY keyboard. It'll launch with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and otherwise looks to be the same as the XT626 "Double V" that's been out for a while now, with IDEN capability, a 1.2GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 processor and 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, an 8MP front-facing camera with a 1.3MP rear shooter, FM radio, microSD card and other bells and whistles.

What we don't yet have is pricing or an actual launch date, so stay tuned.

More: Motorola; Thanks, anon.

SouthernLINC to get the Motorola XT626 in November

We are looking at these to replace our LINC voice and Blackberries, trading 2 devices for one. Wondering about the 3G roaming outside LINC service area, as Sprint is bringing down the Nextel iDen system. Their current android offering will do the PTT on WiFi as well as on iDen

RIM has told us that they will not make a iDen compatible phone starting in December. This meaning that when we run out of stock, that's it. Right now, our agreement with Nextel expires in March of 13. What info I've gotten so far from one of the higher ups is that Southern Linc is working towards a deal with AT&T. This new Smartphone is supposed to support AT&T and our network. It is supposed to be dual sim. What we have heard of that you will be able to use AT&T's 3G network as well as SoLinc. That's still in the back room though.

Amazing how this device has been out after all this time, and it still carries a $499 retail price. Yeesh.
