There's been a whole lot of Samsung Galaxy S3 (Galaxy S III) news today, and Best Buy is getting into the mix this weekend with a sale. All of its Galaxy S3 handsets will be discounted by $100 on Sunday, Oct. 14, at any Best Buy or Best Buy Mobile store. Only the "pebble blue" and "marble white" will be discounted -- sorry, no garnet red -- but for $100 off it's hard to argue with the color options.

Best Buy is a reseller of handsets for all four major carriers, and even offers full-priced and unlocked models as well, giving you plenty of choices. Between this and the recent spate of Galaxy S3 sales in the UK, there's never been a better time to pick up an S3 on the cheap.

Samsung Galaxy S3 $100 off this Sunday at Best Buy

So much for that... apparently "time-limited sales" are excluded. What's the point of a price guarantee then?!

Cannot find one other reference of this offer besides Android Central.
Where is the source link?

$100 off which price?

I recall seeing the VZW Samsung S3 16GB white at BestBuy on Monday.
It was only $149.

So it's going to drop down to $49 after the $100 off? Or will it be
$100 off the original $199 price?

Thanks!

I've been looking on ebay for a new T-Mobile model, so I can move to the $30 prepaid plan. I'd prefer to buy from a real store, so if this is $100 off the retail price too, I'm in.

They're doing this because they don't plan on updating the S3 in the US to Jelly Bean and need to burn inventory. They're still selling new S3's on AT&T with only ICS. Everyone knows that Samsung does not update their phones properly in the US market.

It also proves that Samsung are a bunch of charlatans. They won't update the S3 to Jelly Bean, and still sell it with outdated software. They are now selling an S3 mini (ooo, 4" screen!) that COMES WITH JELLY BEAN... right after they spent a good chunk of money making fun of Apple's 4 inch screen.

Just like the S2 didn't get ICS? lol. They will for a FACT update the US version to JB. Several people already have JB on their S3 but it's not the official OTA. Make sure to come back and comment on the new article from Android Central once the official OTA comes to US carriers.

I am pretty damn happy I just got my S3 for $49. Can't wait to have BB price match this on Sunday.

Thank you for this... that dude has no idea what he is talking about...

I prefer my CM10 to stock JB anyway.

I think he owns an iPhone 5 and has been recently in a purple haze memorized from all the new panoramic pictures he can finally take! lol.

PS, I am sure the S3 will get Key Lime Pie as well. Looking forward to that next installment. If not, I will get the S4. Each year I get an upgrade regardless of my 2 yr contract. I simply call and tell them I want them to give me the upgrade early and if they say no I use my sales tactics and also tell them that I will resign a 2 yr contract and BOOM, they do it every time.

Fifteen hundred years ago, everybody knew that the Earth was the center of the universe. Five hundred years ago, everybody knew that the Earth was flat. And 2 hours ago, you knew that Samsung does not update their phones properly in the US market. Imagine what you'll know tomorrow.

It does look like they've returned the prices back up to $199 for the 16GB versions so they'll likely only be going down to $100 (which means it's only really a $50 savings). Still nice, but $49 would be near impossible to pass up. Was planning to cop a GNex for $.01, but I wouldn't throw a G3 out of bed for eating crackers.

Big question is whether this will be a $100 BB gift card .... (is this what they commonly do?)

I was going to wait for Black Friday, but it seems some sellers are looking to jump the gun a bit. Does anyone expect an on-contract SGS III 16GB to be offered for less than $99 this Black Friday?

icu, Best Buy has a reputation of doing that. I looked at a Blu-ray player there one time (actually looked at it several times) and the regular price was $149. They ran a sale one weekend of $100 off so I stopped back in. They had the regular price listed as $199 instead of the $149 they had been selling it for all along so the sale was only $50 and not $100.

Even at $199, those that were smart enough to sign up for BB's $50 upgrade rebate at the end/beginning of the year are looking at a $49 SIII. Not a bad deal no matter how you look at it.

I called Best Buy and they had no idea what I was talking about when I asked them about this. Has anyone confirmed that this is true?

I know the answer is probably no, but 100 off of the phone even if I don't sign a contract? My dad wants one, but doesn't want to sign a contract.

The S3 only is available in ICS from AT&T and Verizon. Hackers, please don't talk to civilians like we're all in the same circle jerk. If you can explain why the S3 only comes in ICS, but this piece of crap comes in Jelly Bean, by all means, buy this phone.

I am an original Galaxy S user, and for all these newbies to act like Samsung hasn't been acting professionally, go ahead and keep your head in the sand. Jailbreaking is for hackers, not for civilians. I don't own an iPhone 5, and specifically chose the Galaxy S over the iPhone 4 2 years ago.

Oh right, all you Samsung prostitutes burned me: the S2 got ICS... a year after it was released. Keep moving the goalposts on the benchmarks you tout, but you're the ones who can't explain why Samsung can't be bothered to update a phone that only came out in 2011 to it's current OS.

And for the rest of you Samsung whores: why don't you check the forum archives for how the Froyo and Gingerbread rollouts were done for the GS1 in the US? Broken promises after broken promises. DILIG3NT, your solution of just buying a new phone instead of getting a simple software update... for an open source OS? My god, if your newly bought car has a factory recall-level defect, do you just go out and buy a new car? When did the Tea Party start infecting this blog?

Question about buying at Best Buy - who provides support if the phone ever runs into issues? Can you still bring it to a Verizon Wireless store (presuming you're on VZW network) since it's one of their phones, or are you tied into Best Buy? Also, I presume you can purchase a new phone at Best Buy when you're due for an upgrade on your current plan?

Thanks, and sorry for the semi-obvious questions - have always purchased phones directly from a VZ Wireless store but don't need to spend an extra $100 for the same services.

You are right. I found it by searching their website. They are currently selling the white, pebble blue, and the new brown color for $99 for the 16 GB version. I was hoping for the black one but I didn't see it. $100 is a good amount to save but I really wanted the black phone. Decisions ... decisions.

Tried ordering online yesterday. Busy. When I finally was able to enter my account information, I received an error message and was asked to call BB. Stayed on hold 45 minutes, then 30 minutes when the message told me to call today.

I call first thing this morning and while the phone was available, they would not honor the $100 off. I gave them the error code and offered to send the screen shot. No dice.

Sometines I really hate Best Buy, but they ran all the other brick and mortar places out of town.
