Back when Samsung announced the Samsung Galaxy S 4-inch and 5-inch WiFi, they were pretty hard to come by. You seen a few scattered about at trade shows here and there but rarely found in retailers anywhere. But that looks to be changing, if even only slightly. Word is UAE will be getting both the white and black versions come September if you're still looking to get your hands on one.

  • Android OS, v2.2 (Froyo)
  • 1 GHz processor
  • 3.15 MP, 2048x1536 pixels, autofocus, LED flash + VGA Camera
  • microSD, up to 32GB
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi hotspot
  • Bluetooth v3.0 + HS

All that goodness does still come wrapped in the TouchWiz UI we're all too familiar with, word is pricing will be set at 1900AED ~ $519 -- anyone going looking to grab one of these or are we past the MID love especially since it's only running Froyo?

Thanks, bh11!

For the same amount of money you can get something very similar that has 3G or 4G* or LTE? Who would spend over $500 for this device? If they are trying to compete against the iPods of the world then they need to lower the price to $250-$300 at most!

This is the UAE we're talking about.... of course it would be over priced.... They won't launch with that kind of pricing in the US... I would expect iPod Touch prices lines....

But as for why you wouldn't get a "PHONE" instead? CONTRACT FOR 2+years... And you may already have a PHone... This would be good for someone like me when I travel to not have to worry about doing media on my phone and killing off my battery life.

too little too late. as much as I hate apple I would buy an iPod over this. it should have dual core, super amoled plus AND be priced to compete with the iPod, not drive you to it.

Why not get an iPod touch then ?
Cheaper & bigger storage !
Or at least a Galaxy S I9000 phone ,? its much cheaper

In Saudi Arabia , we have

- iPod Touch 4 8GB costs 800 Ryails (~220 USD)
- iPod Touch 4 64GB costs 1600 Ryails (~420 USD)
- Samsung Galaxy S I900 costs 1300 Ryails (~300 USD)
- Dell streak (if you found one) costs 1800 Ryails (~519 USD)
- a Galaxy Tap costs 1700 costs ryails (~450 USD)
- a Motorola Xoom 32GB Wi-Fi costs 2000 ryails (~480 USD)

As you can see , the prices are against Samsung & lets face it it probably won't get GingerBread & Media Players ain't Samsung best thing

One more thing ,
The Saudi Ryail is equal to the Emarati Derham
