Samsung Experience Store

There's one type of phone folks line up for every year, but with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S5 it looks like there's another. This particular photo shows the line up outside the flagship Samsung Experience Store in Stratford, London, right before the 6 p.m. availability last night. And there's a ton of people.

Folks who pre-ordered at one of these stores throughout the UK were able to go and collect their shiny new Galaxy S5 the day before general release. It sounds like the other stores experienced similar line ups, with many people eager to be first to get their hands on the Galaxy S5.

It's no iPhone line, sure. But it's still damned impressive.

Big lineups for the Galaxy S5 at UK Samsung Stores

Samsung really is turning into apple. People lining up to get the s5. This phone is going to sell like crazy, even being only a "minor" upgrade

Samsung has out copied the copy master apple, minor updates are all things go to for these types of people that buy simply on name.

Well I think sammy commercial making fun of apple fans lining up "days" before the release. I don't think these people here lined up for days..

It will probably say something like "i see what you did there".

Edit: removed link posted in two other replies.

I swear I would completely remove myself from society if they (Apple) sued them for that...lmbo!

No there was no lines anywhere for the S5. Not at Verizon not at T-moble or at Sprint. I drove by all the stores after I got my S5 at AT&T. Lines are non existence. So there goes your argument out the window.

Bingo!! I know this is just a guess however, by using deductive reasoning, I say that this is quite ironic. Last year Samsung was filming the crowds during the launch of the iPhone 5s, in hopes of figuring out how they could emulate that same level of enthusiasm and allure to the buying public.

It seems like they've found a way, even if it's all just an elaborate ruse.

Was this an educated or uneducated guess? Because nothing like this could EVER just happen on its own.....

It is a highly uneducated guess. I can't hypothesize this one, it seems so surreal especially given the timing of this. As others have mentioned, in many cases I've seen that involved a high turnout for an electronic device, those events were preceded with lines that formed days in advance.

That's the line of people who got their phones early and are returning them.

It's funny to me seeing all the people that make fun of this phone without even trying it first. It is easily the best Galaxy S phone to date. The Galaxy S4 was crap.

To be fair, i make fun of every phone without even trying them first

And than they talk about how they only give children plastic devices that are waterproof. Incase they spill their sippy cup ;)

Look at that line. Looks like Sammy's has successfully copied every aspect of Apple's strategy. This phone will sell tens of millions this weekend.

And I'm still standing in line right now.

Maybe Jobs and Cook should just have listened a bit more to those internal market analysts telling that customers don't want what Apple are selling. Then they might not have had to whine so much about lost sales opportunities.

Samsung just did the smart thing, outdoing Apple on what they did themselves. Looked at what consumers wanted improved and sold it to them.

Waiting in line for few hours is fine, it's waiting in line for days and weeks that's stupid. With today able to buy online etc I don't see the need to wait in line

I know the store and the mall outside the Olympic Park. There is a bigger Apple Store inside to the right. But I can't think of anything funny to say for once. I like the line about it being the early returns line though. Why would they line up to pay full whack with limited data on an extortionate contract. They must be Apple customers.

Idc line or no line all that matters is how the phone works for me. Coming from my Moto X I'm not expecting much more from my M8 except screen sound and better chassis. The S5 seems nice I'll see how the M8 is before I go badgering a phone that I've never used before though. Just my .02.

I agree. Wait until the rest are available. I like the S5 but newcomers to the latest Touchwiz will need to know the Home button S-Voice trick (thanks JH) and to disable stuff. It's not smaller enough over the N3 for pocketability, so has little real appeal apart from newness. HTC should have more store appeal.

Got one -
These are Apple customers who cannot read and got directions from Siri. Saw this line outside the mall, so it must be the Apple store. (I'm never getting in to iMore now)

From that photo it's not a big line. Not iPhone 5s Covent Garden Store triple layer overnighters big. But its a start. I might camp there in September for the Note 4. I can't afford one, I like being in line.

We queue for anything in the UK - half of the people there probably just joined the queue to be polite and didn't even realise what they were queuing for ;)

But all the posters on Android Central told me it was a turd that sucked and also talked bad about my mom. I'm so confused now. You're telling me that phone nerds on a website aren't good judges of how well a phone is going to do? My whole reality is shattered.

I'm usually pretty eager to receive my new phone, but I just can't imagine standing in a long line to get it, especially for hours.

Anyway, the blue carpet is a nice touch.
