Riptide GP 2

Get rid of the navigation bar when playing this awesome game

Riptide GP 2 is one of the better graphical and gameplay experiences out there today, and it's about to get even better with immersive mode support for KitKat devices. Immersive mode lets apps (and in this case games) take over 100 percent of your screen real estate if you're using a device with on-screen navigation buttons. That means along with the status bar disappearing, your navigation bar gets out of the way to give you just that little bit more space to see and play.

Along with the improvements to KitKat support, Riptide GP 2 is also adding native support for x86 processor devices, and fixed multiple bugs across the game. If you haven't had a chance to see immersive mode in action on your own device, now may be a good time to check it out with a great game.

Hopefully more apps start to use the full screen feature.

I like it. Too bad this cannot be implemented at the OS level though. There are a lot of developers out there who won't bother. Some don't even bother to make the buttons into those little dots.

This is the same with any design or functional feature. Some devs will implement some will not...but the cream always rises to the top. There are plenty of great android devs out there and if an app fails to stay current another will take its place.

So how do you exit this app quickly if there's no buttons. Do you have to pause and go through a series of menus to get your buttons back?

If only there were some sort of "home" button that wasn't part of the screen that you could use...

In other apps you could just swipe down from the top and it would pop out. Isn't this the same?

You are correct. If someone would even bother to read the release notes for 4.4, they would know.

I like the new change. I bought my G Pad for the extra real estate and this change helps to take advantage of it. Cool.
