Yahoo News Digest

Yahoo's News Digest app is now available for Android devices running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and above. The app debuted during the Consumer Electronics Show on iOS, and was available only in the U.S. With the rollout of the Android app, Yahoo has stated that both the iOS and Android versions will be available globally.

Global users will only be able to view the international edition, while users in the U.S. and U.K. can access curated local stories as well as the international edition. Yahoo is also rolling out a Canadian edition of News Digest that offers curated local content to Canadian users.

News Digest provides a twice-daily summary of top stories, once in the morning at 8 AM and once in the evening at 6 PM. News stories are aggregated from a wide variety of sources, and the app's curation algorithm is based on Summly, which Yahoo acquired in March 2013. The Android version of the app includes a news widget that you can place on your home screen.

Twice a day? Stale info. The world moves too fast. I prefer fresh up to the second news. In the age of always on broadband 4G LTE in your pocket this app is silly. It would've been good in 2004.

I know what it is. Stale info. I'll take the fresh front page of CNN or yahoo news over a stale digest.

And it's stale by the time it hits CNN and Yahoo news as well. Twice a day isn't so bad and heck, one gets to earn a living in between updates instead of getting fired for checking the news too often.

Been waiting on this since it came out for iOS! Glad to finally have it. Not Holo, but it's beautiful.

I wonder if this and the yahoo weather app will ever be integrated into Aviate? I love the cleanliness of Aviate but the foursquare integration is a waste for me AMD it see line these could be tweaked to look native to Aviate. But make it optional. Lol. Because if its rickety I don't want it.

The reason this Yahoo app sucks so bad is the fact that it only gives you one article of Yahoo's "choosing" for each category. Unlike the multiple articles of the native Google News app. Again as always Yahoo comes up short in their developing of apps. I am never surprised they do this every time an update or new app comes out. Huge fail.
