ASUS Padfone 2

Those that picked up one of the earlier tablet/smartphone combos from ASUS will be happy to hear that the PadFone 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update is currently rolling out. ASUS has been working on this update for awhile, so it's good news that it's live. On the downside, you'll lose all of your device data in the process, so be ready to start from scratch.

PadFone 2 owners can head on over to the ASUS support page to get started on the update if there aren't any notifications popping up. Take a look at our KitKat page for a feel of what's new. How many of you guys have a PadFone 2? Have you been waiting for a KitKat update for awhile, or have you been satisfied with the software already available?

What is the deal with a full wipe for an upgrade? Anyone know why it is like that?

Probably something to do with the partition size

If that is what it is then it is really poor planning on their part. In some ways going from 4.X to 4.4 is a big deal but the system partition I do not really think is one of them...

I hope it gives some sort of warning about wiping the system before you upgrade.. Or that would suck for alot of people.

Yeah that sucks.

I love the clarity. For the majority of people (Americans) that read this site, is this for the AT&T version? Or os that to much to ask from an Android news blog?
