moto g

The rollout of Android 4.4.4 KitKat around the world continues as we have confirmed reports from tipsters that some owners of the Motorola Moto G smartphone are getting the firmware update today in the UK.

The update has been released for users on the Vodafone network. It's possible that owners of the Moto G on other wireless carriers in the UK will have to wait a little while longer before the "over the air" update is available to download for their phones. The update should bring their device's version number up to 210.12.40.

Here is the full change log:

  • Android 4.4.4, KitKat, the latest version of Android
  • Updated Phone dialer application
  • Ability to pause video recording
  • Enables Motorola Alert application download

More information on the update can be found on Motorola's FAQ support page. Motorola has previously said that the Android 4.4.4 rollout is slowing being offered worldwide on the Moto G, Moto E and a number of its recent Droid models. On Monday, the Moto G update was made available for Verizon customers in the US. There's still no word on when it will be made available for the Moto X.

Thanks to the many people who tipped us

Motorola promised timely updates, I suppose they have forgotten about the moto x.

I said the same thing yesterday and a bunch of trolls tried to bash me. I remember moto saying the same thing when 4.4.2 cane out for the moto g in January. It's no big deal as it's not even my daily phone anymore but I still own it and would like to play with 4.4.4. But you're right. I do remember moto making that claim

It's just incredibly frustrating. I thought the moto x was supposed to be the flagship. Now it seems like all they care about is India and the moto g lol.

What you said yesterday was not even close to what the_wubbs said. What you said yesterday was "I cant help but feel like they dropped the ball on this. Everybody's waiting for Android l and my Moto g still hasn't gotten 4.4.4. It wasn't long ago the this update was announced for this phone but for a company that promised quick updates for this phone they're dragging ass. So much so that I actually thought I accidentally threw away my Moto g this weekend while cleaning out my bedroom and didn't care. It did wake me up this morning when the alarm went off though. I liked moto more when google owned it"

So im gonna assume you didnt read the part that says "It wasn't long ago the this update was announced for this phone but for a company that promised quick updates for this phone they're dragging ass". WTF. You really want to keep this going. this is what matters, i purchased a moto g, i was supposed to get 4.4.3 months ago, it was halted, i am now impatient for 4.4.4... You werent the one who called me stupid yday but why do i need to put my model# in there. was i asking for help? did i need instruction that related to my model #? i simply expressed frustration which is my right as a 1.)Human, 2.) American, 3.) member of a public forum and yes i got bashed for it. you posted the comment, whats wrong with it. lots of people feel they dropped the ball, im OBVIOUSLY not alone

deepak how much time it took to download,
for me it is getting very slow
even iam using 4 mb broad band
it showd 167 mb to update , but for 10 mb it takes more than 40 min
via wifi iam updating

My Moto G unlocked UK using 02 network (not that network matters on unlocked phones) got it this afternoon now just to wait for moto x rollout even though my moto x is locked to o2 unfortunately for me lol

Yeah! - I'd forgotten they were slipping that into 4.4.4 - thanks for reminding. For others who have been irritated by the constant presence of your carrier name in the status bar on your Moto G once updated to 4.4.4 go to Settings, More, Mobile networks, uncheck Show Mobile Network.

BTW both 02 and Tesco locked phones in my house updated as the same time yesterday evening.

Just got my update now.. I'm on giffgaff.. Also in the uk... I don't really get what all the fuss is about.. it doesn't really make that much difference to my phone, or am I missing something??

It's mostly performance and security fixes. There's a new dialler though as something more visible.

Just updated my unlocked moto g (XT1032) in sweden to 4.4.4. Updated from 4.4.2 as they skipped 4.4.3 here. Im using a prepay card through Telenor service provider.

Incredibly awesome version. I have updated new version of KitKat in my moto g. Major changes in contacts and call log....

I thought the reason why the 4.4 update is taken longer is because it came out of the blue because of the whole bleeding heart thing. I think that's what it was. A security thing basically. The reason why the other updates came faster is because they were planned and moto was probably informed 4.4 was more of a wild card and probably the reason for the slow roll out. Also I think it's supposed to fix the battery drain in 4.3. Haven't updated to 4.3 for that reason.

My XT 1032 updated about a week ago (Uk Retail). Bought my Wife a Moto-g LTE XT1039(running 4.4.3) on Sunday, took it back Monday with a faulty screen (dead pixels) after a bit of a wait while the poor lad in Phones 4U got authorization from their call centre, it was swapped for a new one. It updated Monday night to 4.4.4 which included a fix for class 10 SD cards...
