Sero 7 Pro

Users seem to be loving the new $149 Hisense Sero 7 Pro tablet, be sure to join the discussion with questions or comments

Last week we told you about a new line of inexpensive Android tablets coming to Walmart from Hisense. The price looked marvelous, and the $149 Sero 7 Pro had some pretty nice specs -- besting the crowd favorite Nexus 7 in most ways. At that price you knew Android fans were going to bite, and now the forums has a handful of folks talking about their new purchase.

I don't want to give too many spoilers, but the reviews are good. It looks like Hisense has kept things mostly stock, and the Tegra 3 with Jelly Bean performs as well here as it does on other, more expensive models.

All this has me looking at the Sero 7 Pro myself, so maybe we'll squeeze a front page review into the schedule soon. But in the meantime, join folks just like you who are using the tablet every day in the forums, and see what they think about their new pick up.

I have a Nexus 7, but I just had to take a look at this new tablet. So the day it hit WalMart I went and picked up the pro 7! I have tried my best to find something really wrong with it, but have failed so far. I keep putting them side by side just to prove to myself that this can't be true. I loaded apps on slowly and watched the storage and so far so good. I have even watched YouTube side by side and, just maybe, the pro 7 screen is a little better. I love my Nexus 7 but, other than build quality, which is very important, this thing is pretty damn good. I think I only have 11 days left to get over it, based on WalMarts return policy. I know the Nexus 7 is due for a refresh!!!

Auto Rotate didn't work on the one I picked up I was going to review it but found it too shoddy IMO and just took it back.

I love mine so far. I almost bought a refurbished 8gb N7 for $150 when 1saleday had them, but now I'm glad I bought this instead. The build quality is maybe not as good as the N7 (comparing it with my brothers), but other than that, I think the performance and screen quality are almost identical. The SD slot and auto focus camera are a nice bonus as well.

Haha

Looks rather similar to a N7 with some nifty features like a rear camera, and SD card slot. However, it doesn't surprise me the price of a tegra 3 tablet would be 50 less nearly a year after the N7 launched.

Thanks for linking to my thread I started... that's a first for me here. How about opening up a section on the forums for this tablet though? Please?

I'm loving mine!
I sold my nexus 7 when the card slot thing got too much to bear.

I went to Walmart to talk myself out of buying this tablet by demoing it and letting its possible low quality.. poor performance bad screen talk me out of it... But, After finally finding one in stock at the second Walmart I went to (The first one said they had never heard of it)I purchased it site unseen. While I was waiting for the Manager to hunt one down from the stock room (none on display, and zero signage) I took a look at the Galaxy Tab 2 they had on sale at 179. The build quality was of course amazing. But it was running a 2+ year old CPU, a comparatively low resolution Screen, and an outdated OS. I've been using it now for 3 days and It is exactly what I have been looking for. I put the build quality at 99% of the nexus 7.. People forget the HUGE quality issues the early nexus 7's had.. the top glass separating from the top etc... If you expect an IPAD mini then you will be disappointed. For me, its 150 bucks, full featured, and doesn't feel like it will disintegrate in my hands... not much more I can ask for.

Interesting that your comments swayed me into getting rid of the NEWTab2 I recently purchased and pick up the 7 Pro. You give good advice. Thanks!!

I've had the Hisense Sero 7 Pro now for the last three days and I can honestly say that it's a sweet machine. The Samsung 8 inch is still tempting me sorely, but putting out $399 bucks for it is tough. Yes the bells whistles and everyone's love for it is very nice, but for $149 bucks it's hard to make the jump. There's a lot to like with Samsung but for the working guy the Hisense does the job. It can only get better.

I jus got it & I couldn't be happier~GOOD move by wal-mart who is putting this tablet out there at a great price~save your money & get this you won't regret it~HAPPY WITH MY SERO PRO7 :)

I just picked mine up yesterday and I love it! I had the Samsung Tab 2 7.0 and the 7 Pro blows the doors off it! I highly recommend this tablet if you're wanting to save some green and enjoy a most awesome tablet that is as good as the name brand boys. Enjoy!!

I picked mine at wallmart. everything works fine but the volume level is very very low. I cannot even hear the other person speak when I do Skype call. Things are fine with a headphone. How could I correct this as it is more than the days left for return.
