Droid X update

The Motorola Droid X is on the cusp of getting an update for some bugfixes and new features. No, it's not Gingebread. We repeat: It is not Gingerbread. The list of improvements in Version 2.3.340.MB810.Verizon.en.USIBP_C_01.09.07P) is pretty damn long, though, and comprises:

  • Preloaded Madden NFL football game.
  • Preloaded Adobe Flash Player 10.1.
  • Preloaded MyVerizon application (v5).
  • Added Data Widget to home panel.
  • Improved Android OS Froyo stability
  • Fixes to Exchange Activesync
  • Fixes to Visual Voicemail

And many, many more. You can find all of the changes at the source link. (Warning: It's a PDF). [Verizon via Android Central Forums] Thanks, beastmg!

Oh super, adding more things to my X that I didn't ask for. Everyone loves bloatware!

nemesis099 says:

I agree why do they keep adding apps that I can't uninstall and seem to always be open in the background!

This is what I really wish Google would fix with android. No matter what you can't have an app installed that can't be removed.

How does this work if rooted? Need to unroot? Sorry if it's a newb question

dwt10 says:

Yea how do you update without loosing everything and system wipe and unrooting can someone plz email me a link I couldn't find anything. dwt110@gmail.com

alcor34 says:

Is this available to download yet?

Dyster says:

While I love my DX, this makes me strongly consider only a pure Google phone next summer. This added crap-ware that you can't remove is nonsense, and VZW is about as fast as a one-legged turtle with its updates.

I gave you a 2nd chance Moto after the Razr & you blew it.

About time. Moto has us feeling like a lonely step-child up here. I do like forward to Gingerbread coming to Droid X tho...in 2012!

How long exactly is a "cusp"? Lol

AbeFrohman says:

Slightly longer than tomorrow, but shorter than "any day now."

Thank you for choosing VerizonWireless where we give you what you want (and then some), but only when we want.

Whats Viscual Voicemail. I like visual more

gcims says:

It's a feature that is included with the Phil Blur UI. It's thicker and less runny than Visual Voice Mail.

Tifoso says:

My guess is that is custom rom users aren't going to get an update automatically?

rew001 says:

More bloatware. Do Not Want. :(

Dendrite says:

Hopefully fixes the hanging up at the Moto logo on boot up problem...

Sergiob1 says:

Can someone please do an system dump...I WOULD REALLY LOVE TO HAVE THE MADDEN 11 APK FILE!!!!!!!!!

ChrisX#AC says:

Quit whining about bloatware and remove it. Titanium backup or root explorer.

nhf7170 says:

unrooting and restoring is kind of a PITA. I second on titanium.good stuff. There's a guy who hosts all the current apks for those who don't practice safe rooting. Just search "droid x default applications" he has them singly and in one big package. I wonder what the verizon iphone is going to be like. It'll probably be unrecognizable after big red gets a hold of it. vcast anyone?

Will see what happens. Last chance moto.

PhoenixMike says:

Will this unroot my X? Or does that only happen with big updates such as Froyo, Gingerbread, etc...?

jjwstar says:

when will this be available?

ancsite says:

Damn you VZW... I think the bloat just going to outweigh the fixes on this one

turnturn1225 says:

Does anyone know if I have to unroot my phone to get the update? I have rooted 2.2

alcor34 says:

Does anyone have a time frame other than "the cusp"

andyp714 says:
