Verizon out of stock

Update: Verizon has bumped the MAXX back to the top of the site and now says it's shipping Feb. 9.

Original: That the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX is popular should come as no surprise -- we just told you to buy it in our Droid RAZR MAXX review. Turns out it's so popular that it's listed as out of stock (along with the LG Revolution and Motorola DROID X2) on Verizon's website.

Not that you're quite left standing in the cold -- Verizon's got the LG Spectrum (read our complete review) to trump the Revolution, and the Droid X2 is basically dead now with the RAZR MAXX and Droid BIONIC in the stables. But if you've got your heart set on the RAZR, we'd recommend holding out for the MAXX. Sure, Verizon's got it on its site in white, black or purple in 16GB or white or black in 32GB -- but you're going to want to hold out for the MAXX's 3300 mAh battery.

Trust us on this. If you have to wait, wait. If you can find one in stores, or at some other online retailer, do that. It's well worth the extra $50 to $100 (depending on the storage size) over the original Droid RAZR.

Droid RAZR MAXX out of stock on Verizon's website [updated]

If you ask me the vote is already tallied on large battery vs skinny phone.

I expect to see more long-run batteries in future phones.

Phones are already thin enough. Manufactures need to use that room they saved for bigger batteries.

No question MOTO showed everyone the way now watch everyone follow their lead. You can count on 2100 to 3000 mAh batteries in all 2012 smartphones....

I hope you are being sarcastic, if not, let me help.

Droid Razr:
No Swappable battery
Low Resolution Screen
Locked Bootloader
2.3.4 Gingerbread with Motoblur (bloatware)
Low to no support for Motorola with a strong chance of the phone not being updated

Galaxy Nexus:
The antithesis of what I previously stated.

I have a Droid 3 and I have never been so unhappy with a phone before. I actually get furious looking at my phone.

The RAZR Maxx is a good choice for a phone. Sometimes.... its the lil things that mean the most.

I had a G Nex...and got rid of it for the Rezound. If I had to do it all over again...I would have a Maxx and 2 old phones on my family plan. I am seriously thinking about getting rid of my Rezound too. And I will be taking advantage of a special promotion Verizon has for current RAZR owners real soon.

And the low to no support from are seriously talking out the side of your neck on that Have you not seen the 2 official updates for the RAZR recently? One is probably a soak test...but that is still one more than the Rezound has...

Trust me when I say there are real pros, good things about the RAZR and Maxx.

Anybody that says moto's radios are better, are misinformed. I had the Razr and Nexus for four days. Added an extra line temporarily to.test them both at the same time. In my house, the Razr showed 4 out of 5 bars. The Nexus, 2 out of 5. They both reported -93 dBm. This was on 3G. So, moto's bars are just inflated. The radios are not better.

So where are all these Moto fans that were saying they would get ICS by now??? You just git Motorola'd by them remaking this phone 3 times if you include the dev version that is coming out. Motorola decided to make three versions of this phone instead of working on updating the software to ICS to released in s timely manner. Ha! Yes Im a troll at times.

My local BestBuy has a boat load of them in stock. I'll never walk into my local Verizon store again. They have the worst selection of phones on the planet.

Verizon is always "sold out" of their Motorola droid phones when they come out. Don't you smell something not right..... Motorola's numbers last year went down yet somehow they always get sold out... Hmmmmm yeah right. Ship a really small amount and make it seem like so many people are buying it.

I'm lovin' my Razr. With the the 2.3.6 update my signal is stronger than ever.

As for ICS, once the Nexus owners are done beta testing it, then I'll take it. I don't want it before then.

What is even better is that I just threw in a 64GB card and have almost all of my music stored now.

I have had several smartphones and recently purchased the Nexus and had waited for it. Man did it have issues. I traded it for the Rezound because I also already had the Razr and bought my wife the white Razr for Christmas. Ended up selling the Rezound and buying the MAXX and it is absolutely worth the difference and the phone is great that why it is sold out. After having the Nexus I can wait on ICS. Wasn't that impressed.

LAME! Ordered on Sunday and got an email today saying that since I am on an employee account and the unit is backordered, my order has been cancelled and it is no longer available for me.
