ASUS Transformer Prime

ASUS this morning gave us an update on the availability of the popular and already hard-to-get Transformer Prime Android tablet. It's once again available on Amazon, which may be your best bet if you're looking to snag one by Christmas. And ASUS says it expects to have "normal inventory levels in January" for North America. In-store availability in the meantime, will likely fluctuate. It is the holidays, after all.

Here's the official line from ASUS:

“ASUS started filling the inventory pipelines this past week for our new Eee Pad Transformer Prime and will continue to do so on an expedited basis for the foreseeable future. We will reach normal inventory levels in January for the North American market based on current orders and forecasts.  Based on forecasted supply schedules to our valued partners we expect pre-order allocation fulfillment to occur shortly and online or in-store availability in the very near future.  We will continue to work closely with our partners to fill customer orders as quickly as possible.”

As for Amazon, you can get the 64GB Tranformer Prime in champagne or amethyst gray for $599, and the 32GB version in those colors for $499 at the links below.

ASUS Transformer Prime back on Amazon, company expects 'normal inventory levels in January'

What a complete failure. Too bad I sold my HP Touchpad so that I could have the funds to buy the Prime. Now I am tabletless and I will have an empty box under the tree with an IOweU. Thanks Asus. I sure wish there was a comparable tablet out so I could just move on.

LUCKY... i pre-ordered mine with amazon on the 22nd... but mine got canceled... super gay amazon... so then i ordered it with best buy... current status back ordered... at least amazon game me 10 bucks for canceling the order

I also pre-ordered from Amazon on Nov 22nd around 9AM CST. I did not get a cancellation notice and it still says there is not enough information for an estimated delivery.

I picked the 64GB Amethyst. Everyone that I have seen that has shipping notification appears to have the 32GB Champagne. Hmm. What gives?

I ordered the same, and have also noticed that the people getting shipment notifications are the 32gb Champagne. Fingers crossed that Amazon just hasn't gotten their shipment of the other specs yet, and will shortly...

Well i pre-ordered mine and willvarrive after the 25th, i hope i get it this time, i am willing to waiy until january if thats the case.

I ordered on the 22nd. I got an e-mail on the 17th saying it shipped from Fernley, NV due to arrive on the 28th. Pony Express must be the preferred shipper. Why else would it take 11 days.

Best Buy in Las are usual...just trying to push anything today....NO TRANSFORMER PRIME IN STORE AS OF RIGHT THIS MOMENT! LAME! LAME!

Ordered mine from gamestop (I wanted that game controller) and I got an email last week saying they were trying to get them to people who ordered expedited shipping before christmas but couldn't be sure when they'd get there. no updates yet.

:( put it in my cart this morn.... came back to comp just right now to find out it is no longer available again.... fml

I pre-ordered from a few companies (each of which said I wouldn't be charged until it shipped, also stating that they won't ship until they confirm that I still want the product.) So far I've heard nothing from B&H, Newegg or Amazon, but a few moments ago I got this email from Expansys: Dear Customer,

Although the Tranformer Prime was supposed to be available this week,
ASUS have now pushed the availability date to mid-late January on
this tablet. We have plenty of these on order and will ship your
pre-order on a first come first serve basis as soon as stock lands
with us. No customers will have their accounts charged until orders
actually ship.

We apologize for the incovenience caused by this unforseen
manufacturer's delay, and will continue to keep customers informed of
the situation. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any
questions or need to make any changes to your order.

Now I know that Expansys was never on the official "partner list" from Asus, but they seem to reiterate what Amazon's site says when I ordered it this morning: "Usually ships in 4-7 weeks"

My sister-in-law preordered her's through BestBuy and then canceled it. Got a call today from BestBuy saying they have shipped the device, even though she canceled it. However since it is out they can't bring it back and will be shipping it to her new location. She is super stoked, because she thought she was going to have to wait until they had it in the store. What a Christmas miracle, can't wait to get my hands on it and set it up for her. Definitely going to be better than my ipad2.
