We had the awesome opportunity this week to give folks early access to a brand new photo app, Fragment, in conjunction with our weekly photo contest to give away two Nexus 7s to some talented photographers. We saw some awesome photos this week and plenty of great engagement in the Fragment beta testing group on Google+ — read along and see the two winning entries.

Winner of a Nexus 7, Fantasyocean!

Weekly Photo Contest: Fragment Winner

There were dozens of fantastic Fragment-generated images in this contest, but this one of a flower struck a perfect balance of showing off the image naturally while also throwing the newt fragment effect into it. This really takes the cake. Taken with a Nexus 5 and edited a little extra in Snapseed.

Winner of a Nexus 7, batman458!

Weekly Photo Contest: Fragment Winner

This one didn't take advantage of the Fragment app, but all of the fragments are in the subject matter with this awesome picture of a puzzle. What's more fragmented than that? Taken with a Nexus 4 in Lens Blur mode for the extra shallow depth of field.

If you've won this contest, keep an eye on your email inbox for information on how we'll get the prize out to you. It may take some time to get to everyone, so please be patient while you wait to be contacted.

Thanks again to everyone else who entered, and keep your eyes peeled for the next photo contest. We want the chance to give away more great prizes to everyone, so keep taking pictures and entering them!

Announcing the 'Weekly Photo Contest: Fragment' winners!

Congrats to the winners!

Honestly, though. There were some incredible photos this week, and I really think they deserved more attention. So many creative ideas. The hot air balloon, the silhouettes flying kites, the turtle with the fragmented anatomy, that light cube thing, Paris, the form by the fire, the guy with the glass, the architecture... Someone should include these in the post, I'd hate to see these get completely over looked!!

(And what made you choose the person who just took a picture of a puzzle!?! Lol! Such a dick move!)
