To be totally honest, when the doorbell rang earlier today and the UPS man handed me an Amazon package, I could not for the life of me recall what I had ordered. It was only when I opened the package and saw the box within for the Kindle Fire HD 8.9" that I remembered pre-ordering one the day it was initially announced over two months ago.

Phil's Fire HD 8.9" should arrive on Monday and team will take it from there, but in the spirit of the unnecessary yet mandatory unboxing, I fired up the video camera to get one done. Check out the video above to see what's in the box, the Epic Mickey ad on the start screen, and how the HD 8.9" sizes up to Apple's iPad. For more information and to order, you can jump over to Amazon.

Amazon Kindle Fire HD 8.9" Video Unboxing

Are we going to actually see a full review of the Fire HD 8.9? When the Fire HD 7 came out, you did an unboxing and initial impressions. Then at the bottom of that, you said the following:

"We'll have more about the Kindle Fire HD 7 coming, including the inevitable comparison to the Nexus 7 over the next few days, and stay tuned for the full review. For now, hit the break for an unboxing and quick 10 minute look."

Since then, nothing.

It's too bad that Canada still has nothing from Amazon. For this reason my wife wants an iPad Mini now. It's no surprise Apple continues to dominate outside the US.

Per the above post - is it really necessary that EVERY TIME an article is posted about a new gadget, we have somebody bitching that it's not out in xyz country? If you are unhappy about the fact that you can't buy one in your country, why don't you write the company, instead of complaining about it on blog comments? Granted, it probably won't do any good either way, but damn.

Better yet, make a friend in the U.S. and have them buy one and send it to you, or just go on ebay in about a week and buy one, or tigerdirect or overstock, or bestbuy, they all do international shipping.

Is there keyboard functionality for sending e-mails, commenting in FB, and/or for writing in Word? (sorry, old broad here; not tech-savvy...but I can add and subtract in my head...;).
