Vodafone UK abandons plans to sell Galaxy Tab 10.1v, will stock new, slimmer Tab 10.1 instead

Vodafone UK has announced that it's abandoning its plans to offer the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1v, instead opting sell its slimmer, lighter sibling -- the "new" Galaxy Tab 10.1.

Confused? The 10.1v is the new name for the original Galaxy Tab 10.1 that was unveiled shortly before Mobile World Congress, only to be trumped by a redesigned model a couple of months later. The heavier, bulkier 10.1v was due to be sold exclusively through Vodafone (hence the "V"), but it now seems that in the UK at least, this will not be the case.

Vodafone confirmed the change in an email to customers who had pre-registered for updates on the 10.1v's availability, but did not give any details of pricing or availability for the new Tab 10.1.

  • Good idea... To release the old model would be a pretty stupid thing to do
  • I don't blame them smart move. I just pre-ordered mines on Best Buy, now the wait till the 17th :(
  • What's going to happen to all the 10.1v's? haha
  • whats the use of marking posts as spam if they aint gonna be deleted
  • actually, *I* would much prefer the 10.1v as it has 8mp rear and 2mp front cameras. as i stated before, one main reason i didnt get the tab7 was that the rear cam was only 3mp and next to my epic's 5mp cam its a huge (40%) downgrade.
i was disappointed when they changed the new tabs from 8mp to only 3mp. the extra few grams and few more $ would not be a big deal for me, but a downgrade from 8mp to 3mp is. i'll pass, thanx. edit: ...btw, back then the os was not yet optimized as it is today.
  • Vodacom is selling the 10.1V in South Africa... They had to dump the pre-google-io models somewhere :(
