New devices coming to the Xperia line at Mobile World Congress

That thud you just heard was the sound of my head hitting my desk. Invites apparently already are going out for Sony Ericsson's event at Mobile World Congress in February. And just like last year, it's going to be on the eve of the opening, somewhere in Barcelona. (Last year's event, at Opium Mar, was way cool.) Anyhoo, the invite points to new devices in the Xperia family. Last year we got the X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro (plus a WinMo device).

What will we see in 2011? The Xperia Play (aka Playstation phone) is a good bet. And SE pretty much surprised everybody this past February, so maybe they'll have something else up their sleeves. We're about a month and a half away, so stay tuned. [Android World via EuroDroid] Check out our coverage of the 2010 Mobile World Congress

  • Will probably be leaked just after CES.
  • After I get 2.3 on X10, I'll look forward to the next SE device, not before.
  • Hmmmm given the amount of trouble SE has updating their devices I would think most have learned to stay well away from their devices.
  • The wavy material looks a lot like the Playstation wave from PS3 and PSP
  • There was material in the image? Oh, yeah, so there is......
  • Xperia Play for the next year November release FTW!!
  • I really hope this is the sony playstation phone which has been talked about across the whole of the internet if it is then will Sony start updating phones with the latest version of android faster. Damien Harrison

  • So they are going to announce yet another Sony phone which Phil will lust over in the podcast but wont be released till next fall... no thanks!
  • Oh and it will be running an ancient version of Android at launch but Sony will promise to update it ASAP but will take three months to do so by which time Ice-ream will be out.
