LG V30 making its way to Canada on Oct 20

While the last of the U.S. carriers are set to start selling the LG V30 this week, Canadians eager to purchase the multimedia powerhouse phone will have to wait an extra week.

LG Canada says the phone will be released on October 20 at a number of carriers, including Rogers, Bell, TELUS, Fido, Koodo, and Freedom Mobile. Android Central has also learned that the phone will retail for $1100 outright, or around $400 on a 2-year term with partial financing.

Unlike in some other markets, Canadian carriers will only stock one color of the V30 — Cloud Silver.

  • Any idea if the Canadian model will come with the 2 year extended warranty?
  • Nope, that's U.S.-only.
  • Great, thanks for the reply. So Europe gets nice headphones, the states gets an extra year of warranty and Canada gets an ass grab. Seems about right.
  • as always, we get the shaft! and 1100$... ouch! I'll just wait until the price lowers. after a couple of months, LG handsets always lose value et become a great product for the money. If it had stereo front facing speakers, I'd be all over it tho.
  • Daniel, do you know if the V30 will be available unlocked in Canada?
  • Very unlikely. LG has never officially sold an unlocked version of its phone in Canada.
  • Thanks for the quick reply.
  • What about the new CRTC rules. After December 1st all new devices have to be sold unlocked. And carriers can't charge anymore for unlocking.
  • If you buy it outright from Rogers or Fido they'll unlock it for free. That said, the Note 8 was already sold unlocked, so it's possible this will be too
  • The rule is that carriers can no longer charge to unlock the phone after December 1 of this year, so the phone will likely be locked to whichever carrier until you decide to get an unlock code for free since its sold prior to Dec 1. I recently unlocked my current phone on Telus and asked if they could give it to me free even though it isn't Dec 1 yet and they were happy to give it to me.
  • And so a date is revealed.
  • Cool. Canada may get the phone before my preorder ships from T-Mobile. Zing!
