LG G Watch R reportedly coming Oct. 14

According to the Wall Street Journal, the LG G Watch R will have an October 14 release date. While unsure of the launch markets, the WSJ says this date is sourced directly from LG. We spent some time with the G Watch R today at IFA 2014 in Berlin, where LG told us to expect it sometime in Q4 of this year.
We were impressed with the materials and design, and the impression was that of a sports watch rather than a miniature computer strapped to your wrist. Most of all, we're happy to see LG embracing Android Wear and hope they — and other manufacturers — continue to build different styles based on Google's software.
You can see just what we think about the G Watch R in our hands-on, and have a good look at it through plenty of pictures.

Boy, this category need some serious help if it's ever going to get beyond the geek crowd. Hopefully the 360 will have a better showing, if that fails, then the category's last hope will rest with apple. If apple somehow dropped the ball on the 9th, then this category is dead as a mainstream mass market appeal.

I am just going to leave this link right here for ya. Bring on the hate. No wonder all those so call smart watches looked familiar. FYI...That was back in 2010. https://www.androidcentral.com/e?link=https2F2Flink...

Yeah, I bet it'll be a massive hit, like the iPad Mini. Another Android killer. Oh wait... iPad sales has been plunging all year, haven't they?

Pretty typical of Lg. Another dull useless Android Wear notifications watch. I can't laugh any harder. The Galaxy Gear S pimp slaps this silly watch so easily it's comical. From my Galaxy Note 3 on T-Mobile via Android Central App

2. Do you even know what a gomer is? Some would actually consider *you* a gomer with all the mindless, unwarranted insults you spew on a daily basis. Get a life. -

I stopped caring about the 360 after seeing this and the Gear S Posted via Android Central App
-
If only the Gear S were Android Wear and not Tizen :( But yeah, there's something about that curved screen...
-
It's independent. It doesn't need Wear since it's free standing. Best thing about. If the phone dependable yes. Posted via Android Central App
-
I know, but it loses some cool features from Android Wear. I do like that it's not tied to the phone though, but still... Is an Android Wear watch that's not tied to the phone too much to ask for? I don't think so hehe
-
Yes, it is, the way Wear is built right now relies heavily on a phone, no OEM is gonna release a Wear watch that does anything sans phone unless Google fundamentally changes the Wear code base.
-
My thoughts EXACTLY. If it was, I'd be getting that AND the Moto 360. But alad, I'll just be getting the 360.
-
That gear S is going to be E.X.P.E.N.S.I.V.E.!
-
Motorola have completely lost the head of steam they built up. It's been months since the 360 was teased to us. n5
-
As I wait anxiously today at home, to press ORDER for that 360.
-
Ditto, except I'm on the go and constantly refreshing several sites for news... When did they schedule the press conference anyway?? It's already like 1PM EST and I'm pretty sure it's in Chicago.
-
I LOVE this watch. If it had GPS, I'd buy it in a minute for my runs. Too bad.
-
It doesn't have it, does it? I've been wondering. Doesn't seem very future proof if it lacks that. Posted via Android Central App
-
I don't think GPS will be a must have in the future, certainly not until battery life gets better... I'd love to have it for running too, but the reality is accelerometer/pedometer based tracking (on something like even a $50 Fitbit) is accurate enough for my purposes, and having to recharge my watch immediately after every run would be kind of a drag. I'm not sure I'd even wanna go running with such a fancy watch on, exposing it to bucket loads of sweat/rain on a weekly basis... It'd be convenient for sure, but if I have to recharge it immediately after I might as well just use a different device to track my run (cheap Fitbit, phone, etc).
-
gps is a must for serious runners like me. I do see your point. I wouldn't want to run with the moto x. I'm looking to replace my Nike plus gps watch if I can get one with android wear plus gps for runs. That would probably be why the Sony smart watch is very appealing to me. Just a theory but what if moto has been holding off on the moto 360 price and release because they wanted to make the whole watch face usable? Posted via Android Central App
-
Don't think that's the case, but boy would that be HILLARIOUS!
-
They would gain back sum interest if that's the case but I doubt it.. Posted via Android Central App on The Nexus 5

What rock did you crawl out from?! The Moto 360 is launching soon!
-
I think this is the best looking of these watches yet. Looks like my Rolex.
-
Hopefully Google updates Wear before then with better battery life and some more features. Update Wear every/every other quarter for the first two years.

Motorola has seriously biffed this one I feel, they need to get the 360 out asap before they lose the small amount of hype they have left. Posted via the Android Central App

Comes out today, supposedly, they must've scheduled the event real late tho cause it's already 1PM in Chicago...
-
It's already 1:00PM in Chicago? I'm actually in Chicago, and my clock says 12:30.
-
it's only 12:31 pm in Chicago (they're Central, not Eastern Time).
-
Oops, didn't realize they're central... I can't ever keep US time zones plus DST straight in my mind (Puerto Rico is Atlantic I think? no DST). STILL, chop chop Moto, what are they doing, holding the event at happy hour? :p
-
Aaand it looks like today's event was a press only shindig behind closed doors, ffs... Hopefully tomorrow's live stream includes an announcement of immediate availability, tho another odd Friday launch (a la Nexus 5) seems suspect, unless they gave out review samples to the press today.
