HTC One GPe Lollipop updates entering final stretch this week

After a couple of unexpected delays, the Android 5.0 Lollipop updates for the Google Play edition HTC One M8 and HTC One M7 are hitting the final stretch this coming week. HTC Product VP Mo Versi reveals on Twitter that company's GPe Lollipop updates are "in Google's QA lab" and "their target is to provide TA [Technical Approval] by end of day Monday."

Technical approval is one of the last steps before the update rolls out over the air. So while this isn't a guarantee that devices will begin receiving Lollipop on Monday, it is looking increasingly likely that eager GPe owners won't have too much longer to wait.

  • Updates come when they come. I just hope Samsung doesn't screw up my Note 4 experience. Posted via "the Contest-Won" Sprint Galaxy Note 4
  • Same, my Note 4 is godly. So is my G2 with stock android L ^_^ Posted via the Android Central App
  • Pretty late, but at least it's coming. I still love HTC and Motorola for their update transparency.
  • I have a htc 816 and I love it waitin for the 5.0 update
  • Pretty late? So you rather have a buggy version and complain about that?
  • yes
  • buggy version is in skydragon rom
  • They did promise that it would come at a certain date, but on that date, they announced that something went wrong and had to re-do the update. Naturally, that made GPe users pretty frustrated. Anyway, glad to hear it's fixed, though I think HTC overpromised on that. Still, at least it's coming, and working fine.
  • Very good info :) thanx Posted via the Android Central App
  • Mo also said that they're gonna start the OTA on Monday itself, if they Google approves the TA.

  • Still waiting for my Nexus 7 2012 wifi only to receive Lollipop
  • Still waiting for my 2013 N7 to get it... Posted via the Android Central App
  • Something must be off on it, it's taking way too long. I got it early on and it seems ok to me. Other than one thing...Real Racing 3 runs great, but after playing the whole tablet runs like garbage until I clear RR3 from Recents. Almost like it won't let the resources go. So that may be indicative of a problem. I cleared the cache partition right after the OTA as the tablet was unusable. Clearing it sorted things out. OTA is flawless on my N5.
  • maybe you are thinking of the 3g version?
  • it has...long ago...I have it now. Its been out long enough to get f2fs version
  • Come on Moto G GPE Posted via the Android Central App
  • So expect it the third Thursday from next week Posted by my soon to be retired Note 3
  • Typical nonsense from jealous Samsung troll.
  • Your hilarious your the same guy who says you don't need updates and you should just be happy with the software you purchased with the phone but your always bashing companies for being a little late to deliver updates . Posted via Android Central App
  • After reading all the problems people are having G I'm glad to wait for this. I'm not completely happy with the experience on my Nexus 10. Slow down with video playback is real and tested by returning back to kitkat on it. I'd much rather have a flawless late release on my phone than a fast buggy one. Posted via the Android Central App

  • Lollipop totally screwed up my tablet.... So when it comes to my M8, I won't be downloading it
  • Sounds like you have an older tablet... Magenta is the new Yellow
  • Sounds like you have an older tablet... Magenta is the new Yellow
  • It's not the fault of the OS itself and I think that HTC will provide a quality-update :)
  • My tablet is a nexus... Its not old.. And if it was old it shouldn't matter one bit especially since 4.4.4 worked great on it
  • I can completely relate. Made the mistake of updating to Lollipop two weeks ago today. What a $*%^(#$ joke! It crashes so much it's completely useless!!! Nobody from Android will even get back to me. I've tried a factory reset and it's just as bad, didn't help at all. What a freaking joke. Looks I'm going back to Microsoft. At least they'll admit when they dropped the ball and rolled out a completely flawed and glitchy update....and they work to fix it!!!!!
  • Ace. Hopefully not too long now then. Posted via the Android Central App
  • Be nice if they fixed what was already out there before rolling out more junk. My Nexus 7 is barely 2 years old and is a useless piece of plastic and glass now since running the Lollipop update two weeks ago. And of course you can never get a hold of anyone to find out what is going on or when they'll get their heads out of their @$$e$ and give a GOOD and FUNCTIONING update to fix the crap they already gave.
  • Unless you meant Google, HTC did not make the Nexus 7.
  • From some leaked screen shots that I have seen, HTC and Android Lollipop are going to be a great pair.
  • so will this also go out to the loyal m8 owners that have had it since day one? I got no google bloomin play edition?
  • What are you trying to say? if you have a Dev Edition you will get it soon after. If you have a carrier variant, you will get it next year.
  • I bet it'll be getting android 5.0.1 r1 Posted via the Android Central App
  • I just received my Lollipop update last night on my Sony Xperia Ultra Z GPE! Unfortunately, I accidentally locked my simple card when i tried to encrypt it. Didn't realize it has a factory simple lock code and tried to enter what I wanted to use and it locked... So, now I gotta get on the phone with tmobile to unlock with a PUT code.. Grrrrr
