HTC offering free USB-C to 3.5mm headphone adapter to all Bolt buyers [Update]

Update: HTC's head of PR, Jeff Gordon, noted to me on Twitter that "future production runs will include the headphone adapter in the box." Good to know!

The HTC Bolt is a pretty great phone, but the Sprint exclusive has one pretty major omission — one increasingly common these days — in the lack of a headphone jack. Worse, unlike the iPhone 7 and Moto Z, two other phones lacking in that ubiquitous circular port, the Bolt doesn't come with a headphone adapter in the box.

Thankfully, HTC has seen the error in its ways and is offering a free USB-C to 3.5mm headphone jack adapter to all Bolt owners through its rewards website. Just head over to the site, enter your purchase date, transaction number and phone's MEID, and you'll receive an adapter in the mail within a few weeks.

While it's not quite as good as getting one in the box, we're glad HTC understands the needs of its customers. In the meantime, the headphones included in the box are pretty good!

The offer is available to U.S. citizens only, and the Bolt's purchase date must be between now and January 31, 2017. The adapter offer then expires on February 28, 2017, which will come more quickly than you think.

  • Smh
  • Lol. F off HTC.
  • Exactly... I can't believe that this is what my once favorite has come to.
  • Not sure who thought it was a great idea to exclude it. How does something like this get past marketing?!
  • HTC, you should have bundled them. Omitting them is a very poor move.
  • There goes that cost savings.....
  • What's up with all the HTC hate? Samsung tries to sell the Note 3 and they get praised?
  • No one praises Samsung for that. I loved HTC. But they have completely screwed up...i can't believe it. I'm incredibly disappointed in their recent offerings. I was a fan of theirs from 2007 till the HTC Amaze. After that their was always something important missing with their offerings. It was either low res cameras (One m 7,8), poor storage options (One S, X... ), crap cameras (M9), they deserve what they get if you ask me.
  • #dongelife. It's so good.
  • Lol
  • dongle* :)
  • If that's the second best option and it's supposed to be pretty good...
  • Of course, novadays, a missing jack is a feature. I dont know how they can spare cost with exluding a piece of 50 years old technology.
It was an marketing idea of apple to be different, and other vendors are copycatting this.
A vendor, whitch listens to its clients will never do such a stupid move. Jack headphones where, are and will be. And every person having such a phone will for sure find himself in a moment, when he will missing it. For example while im driving a car without bluetooth (mostly rental) using external mic for my notes, connecting spotify to my big audio at home...
  • Another good example is the new macbook pro. No usb, hdmi, sdcard, neither lan. Whats the point having a smaller device in one pocket, if the secon pocket has to be full with dongles.
  • Should have just had a headphone jack to begin with.
