How do you feel about the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 allegedly not having a slot for the S Pen?

The original Galaxy Z Fold wasn't quite ready for prime time, though we have absolutely loved the Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Galaxy Z Flip. Samsung's premium devices are easily among the best foldable phones you can buy. With the improvements Samsung has made in such a short time, we can only imagine how good the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will be.

While we fully expect that the next version will be compatible with the S Pen, much like the Galaxy S21 Ultra, one feature that many of us were expecting, the inclusion of a built-in stylus, looks like it may not actually be coming to the device.

Looks like this probably won’t happen according to this article. https://www.sammobile.com/news/galaxy-z-fold-3-s-pen-confirmed-no-dedicated-slot/amp/?utm_source=telegram

Well, looks like I get to save money. Samsung keeps crap like this up and they could follow LG's route.

I'm not surprised at all.. I would not expect it on this one... I just think they have a few more things they want to address as the Fold evolves...

I could see lack of space as an issue, but water and dust resistance?? I mean, if they can make a Note with a port water resistant, why not a Fold?

The fold is going be awesome in next couple more years, but I feel it's in different bracket from phones. I still want the thickness to go down if they can do it .

  • I feel we should confirm the *rumour* that it will support the S-Pen before we start worrying about the *rumour* that it won't have a silo for one. That said it makes sense
It's a lot harder to justify selling the S-Pen separately as a grossly overpriced accessory if there's a silo for it on the device.
  • Think you are right. If there is no silo, there would be no expectation that the pen would be included. Then they can sell the pen and a special case to hold it. Assuming the thing supports the pen in the first place.
  • If they can make the Fold 3 or even the Fold 4 thinner, without sacrificing battery, then I could see not having the silo and I'd be ok with that.
  • There is a reason I have not moved to the S21 Ultra from my Note and that is a lack of a location to store the S-pen. I do not like the larger case required to store the S-pen on the S21 which makes a large phone even larger. The Fold makes this even more challenging since it is even larger (thicker). Without a slot, I will simply look to buy a non-stylus phone.
  • I'd wait until its confirmed that there won't be a slot for the S Pen for the Galaxy Z Fold 3.
  • I see that there is a trend of cancelling the silo from Samsung from everywhere.
No silo on their tablets too where there is even more space, no note devices, now the rumor comes for the Fold.
  • If what I have seen from the rumors, I would say Z Fold 2 is still the most attractive option. Bigger battery, bigger cover screen? I don't care about an in screen camera is my screen got smaller?
