Get real-time rain and lightning alerts with The Weather Channel app

Keeping informed of weather conditions is something that is important to many. Knowing when the rain has started, or if lightning is in the area is something that people like to know, and there are many great weather apps for Android. The Weather Channel app has been updated with support for real-time alerts for rain, snow, and lightning. In addition to the new alerts, the app already supports alerts for severe weather, pollen, breaking news, and daily precipitation forecast.

The full change log includes:

  • Real-Time Rain and Snow: Users can set up alerts for exact, to-the-minute timing of when rain or snow will start based on their GPS location. The alert will also provide an exact duration of how long the rain or snow will last, so users can plan for the next two hours.
  • Lightning Strike: The new lightning map layer provides real-time alerts for when lightning strikes near a user's GPS location so they can stay out of the path of the storm.

This free update is now available in Google Play.
